Top 5 for Tyger Campbell

Completely forgot about Campbell. I remember a year ago when we offered the scholly. Crystal ball has him 100% to MSU, but hopefully he gives the Hawks a long look. Would be an awesome get.

For the hair alone, JUST COME TO IOWA!!

This x infinity. Maybe by the time he's in college he'll have full on Jae Crowder/Kenneth Faried/DeMarre Carroll style dreads. Iowa needs a guy with dreads.

So alot has to do with happens in the next 2 years on the court. Fran and the players need to overachieve and maintain it for the entire season. Then Iowa has a real good chance.

Dom Uhl briefly had dreads last year and by far played his best that way. Here's to hoping that Dom's dreads come back soon and for a Tyger commitment!

Iowa AD should promptly announce that the University of Iowa has renamed and redesigned its world famous logo and that, going forward, the Tiger Hawk logo will be known as TygerHawk. If that isn't obvious enough, commission a redraw and add dreadlocks to the hawk's mane. Shameful -yes, but you need any extra edge you can get in recruiting these days.

Refresh my memory, doesn't this kid have some connection or family connection to Iowa?

As others have mentioned, he does have Iowa & Hawkeye ties. He & his family moved from Iowa to Tennessee because they let middle schoolers play varsity sports. He was 14 years old & in the eighth grade. He's now at the basketball powerhouse La Lumiere in La Porte, IN outside of Chicago.

The good news is he & his family have Iowa roots & allegiance for the Hawks. Love the fact that his grandmother lives in Cedar Rapids (presumably one of his parents grew up there) and his dad played at Luther.

The maybe not so good news is that it certainly appears Tyger & family are not hesitant to live/play wherever they feel furthers Tyger's basketball advancement.

Of course, there is no reason that can't be achieved at Iowa with an outstanding coaching staff & facilities playing the best basketball conference with other highly regarded players in Cook, Garza, Nunge, Weiskamp, the McCaffery's, Foster (hopefully), etc. while returning back to the family roots and living close to extended family.

Here's a link where I got some of the info. I recall that it has been linked in past threads on this board.

We're gonna need an true elite PG like Campbell to keep up with college bball going forward. I see ISU just committed one of the top PG's for 2017. The value of a great PG cannot be understated.

Yep, the game is evolving. You don't need a great interior space eater anymore. You need guys that can shoot or guys that can create shots, both for themselves and/or others. A quick PG that can handle and pass can change the game for you.

Family never lived in Des Moines. Both parents went to HS school in CR and have family there still.

Its why the already exciting young roster Fran has assembled matters if we can translate into winning in a fun up-tempo way for the Blue Chippers to take notice. I think Tyger has some connection to Iowa if I am not mistaken. I am sure you all will enlighten me...... :)

Sorry, I should have read all the posts before replying......thanks for the info.

Just watched this kid on ESPN. Small, but really skilled. They said he has offers from MSU, SMU, Texas and Illinois. No Iowa mention.

Lots of talent in tonight's first game. Of course all the studs have it down to the usual suspects with Sparty seemingly leading the way.

Second game (#3 Sierra Canyon, CA vs #2 Oak Hill, VA.) starts at 8:00 on ESPN2.

I'm only familiar with Nairn Jr. and Clark Jr. Were there any others? Clark Jr. is no longer with the Mich St team and it could be argued that Nairn would have fit better on the free flowing/fast break Iowa basketball team.

When have we won a battle? We know we've lost

His dad Tony was a star at Cedar Rapids Regis High School.

Was that the Tony Campbell that played at Ohio State in the early/mid '80's (also in the NBA with a few teams, like the Minnesota Timberwolves) or a different one?

Cedar Rapids Regis, what a blast from the past. I remember when Regis and LaSalle were the whipping posts of the MVC. Then while I was in high school they combined to form Xavier and they're pretty competitive now.

Not to be a Richard, but those two schools weren't in the MVC. The ECIC and then the WAMAC. They played the local high schools at times, but weren't in the conference.

Can anyone help me, these teams that are ranked nationally do they play in "conference" for high school? I see that Indiana school LaLumiere is ranked nationally and they talk about their schedule playing all over the country.

How do they play a normal high school schedule and include all those "cross country" games in as well? Are these kids playing 45 games a season?

I don't know specifics on most, but I know that some do play a "normal" conference schedule and others don't. I think it might depend on the area they draw from. If they are more of a national level type of prep school, they only play other preps and some high level "normal" HS. If it's more of a regional/local draw, they'll be in a conference with other locals.

Again, that's a guess based on a few I've seen.
