Which non top 8 seeded wrestler will take out a top 8 seed?

Without going through the backside, here's a few early round possibilities.

Delgado over #8 Cox / #9 Peters
# 9 Schopp over # 8 Devoy (barely qualifies)
#13 Brewer over #4 DiJuilus
#9 Moreno over #8 Richardson (barely qualifies)
#9 Brooks over #8 Abounader (barely qualifies)

I am a bit nervous about the Gilman Conaway match up. They are close and it is tough to beat anyone three times. Please tell me I am crazy.

I'd love to tell you that you're crazy, but in this case, I cannot. I'm nervous about it too. The good thing is that Gilman's defense is pretty legit and it'll take Conaway's best match to beat him.

The one thing that has me very optimistic for the Conaway match is the fact that Gilman lost in the BIGs finals to Tomasello. I think Gilman's one of those guys that doesn't lose two in a row, especially to guys he knows he can handle. He'll be fired up and destroy he's first round guy than give Conaway everything he's got. I'm more concerned about the Joey Dance match up. Of all the tight matches Gilman had throughout the season with the top tier guys, Dance was the one that seemed had more separation from Gilman.

If Gilman opens it up like he did against Kilmira, he'll roll Conaway. In the dual, he took him down in about 15 secs. If he comes out with the aggressive mindset, he'll be in good shape.

Clark's earlier losses lit a fire and he got it all together and made improvements we all could see.

Gilman's losses came later and now he has to make those same adjustments that Clark had to make.

I think he makes them and does great.

Statistically, this is not true. There was a thread on the basketball forum about it. The phrase is used often. The stats say roughly a 74% chance to win the third time.

I'll throw #5 Boyle over #4 Tomasello just for good luck even though Boyle is top 8........

toughhawk sure hope you are right about peters, I was worring over his first match with teraro

that would be 4 quick team points (I think you get 2 for advancement in championship bracket) that nobody is giving the Hawks. Hopefully Kelly and Moore do have this realization that this is their last opportunity to wear Black and Gold and leave everything they have on the mat for themselves. Obviously, the team would benefit, but I think these guys have to dig deep next week for themselves. for the team score, I think we need at least 8 points combined from these two to bring home the team championship and don't care if this is winning a match in championship bracket before falling to cons or just wrestling like mad men on back side.

If Gilman gets after he will beat up on Tim Conway. He will even take it to Dance if he gets after it, but if he stands around like he did against Dance the first time he could easily lose to either. I just hope the Hawks let it go and set up shots. Tired of seeing the opponent back straight up, because it is hard to set anything up or create any angles that way. We have to create a circle or and angle. I think the Tomasello loss will be a good thing for Tommy other than the loss of seed.

If Gilman gets to Garrett he will be in the finals. I guess Conaway scares me more than Dance or Garrett at this time. But I do have Delgado vs. Gilman in the finals right now.

I'm usually wrong 70% of the time on 50/50 chances. I say Gilman does it.

This. That little mini bracket is a bear. Peters/Terao/Delgado/Cox. Any one of them could come out of it.

I have a bad feeling that Jeva will lose to someone ranked below him at some point. That weight is very top heavy and then anything goes after #4. He got it done at Big Tens but it's still hard to bet on him.

Lincoln Mcllravy is about 74-0 against Bono, so the 3 times thing is B.S.

If you're better, no matter the sport, someone or several someone's (a team) you've already beaten twice, what else could be better? Especially if you've "handled" them (of course our own Hawkeye Basketball team imploded in the 3rd game against Northwestern last year after piss-pounding them twice by 26 or so both games - so that one was in the 26 percentile on the bad side I guess).

At any rate, the rate of 74% is pretty damn good. I'll take it versus many other scenarios.
