So if this is the matchup to determine our starter until Grothus gets healthy and presumably challenges the winner, who is the better of the two? Has anyone attended practice and seen them go at it? Anyone with a prediction?

Both are good but I believe Ryan is going to be the guy eventually.

The only piece of relevant info I have is that on the recent podcast, when Brands was asked about 141, the first name he mentioned was Ryan.

They don't wrestle in practice, they are too busy beating up Metcalf and Sorensen.

Carton looks like he has filled out into a nice sized 141. Ryan looks to be a good sized 41 also.

Haven't seen him a whole lot, but I love Carton's energy and spunk. Hope he puts some improved technique and defense in there and he will be a fun wrestler to watch.

Gobblin- you seem to have inside knowledge about Carton being the "more capable starter". Have you been to any of this years practices to know this first hand, or how are you coming to these conclusions? Please elaborate.

I've been to couple, but am pretty close to a few folks who are there everyday. I love both Chris and Logan as they both embody a style that the staff emphasizes, but as it stands right now, Christopher has the upper hand.

all right mr deerhunter they are all 3 quad city boys who ya got for big tens, topher brody,or young ryan.with the weight cut and the shoulder surgery I am thinking carton all year and probably a decent year at that. he has always had plus talent and drive, now hes had time to grow into the big time. but what do I know I was on the dziewa band wagon for 5 years.

Carton will be the guy at 141, Brody it remains to be seen, alot has to happen first before he gets his shot. Logan has to wrestle hard in practice the full 3 minute practice periods right to the END. Do you get what I'm saying?

I am assuming Chris must be Chris-Topher ... have these guys wrestled in a practice? And I didn't realize all practices were open - how do I get a schedule?

No schedule but it has been 3-3:30 Monday through Friday but things change.

For some reason I thought Carton was a Senior, but appears he's only a Junior. That said, from the few times I've seen him since at Iowa, seems like he's got a ton of offense and very little defense. Does that sound about right? I'm sure he has some skills, but he couldn't take the spot from Dziewa so we know he's got some work to do yet. SOMEONE has to take the bull by the horns at that weight, and 157. Hopefully they can mimic this years Iowa Football team with the next man in kicking some ass (what is up with that! Hawks actually look pretty damn good on the gridiron - stunning to me).
