You live down south? One was randomly walking across the road near my house a few months ago. I did not get out to help it across.
Back when I was in middle school, my grandpa and I used to trap them. My grandpa knew a few farmers around Spencer,IA that had farm ponds that were overrun with snappers. So we set traps one summer, caught a bunch of them, threw them in the back of my grandpas truck, and took them to a bait shop that bought them off people for like $1/pound of the turtle. It was pretty good money for a little summer "hobby" and for being in middle school.
With that said, I'll never forget the stench of them. When we had a bunch in the back of his truck, you could smell them from like 50 feet away. But apparently if you put them in a tank for a while and let their systems clean out, they're pretty good eating.

That's the best thing to do for them to be there for me to get them to get to my house and then I can get them to take them to the office and then I'll be there in a few minutes and then I'll be there around 10My grandpa used to trap them and make turtle soup.
He had a little tank where they would clean out. I remember poking them with sticks when I was a kid and watching them snap at it. Probably a dumb thing for a little kid to do.
As for the turtle soup, I wasn’t a fan but then again I was pretty young the last time I had it so it could be better tasting as an adult.
Who ever thought getting a scorpion sting to Roscoe and the twins hurt never took on a snapper mano y turto...Hurt like hell if they bit you between the thumb and index finger and hang on!!!!!
