There has been some news about the Xavier Lucas issue at Wisconsin and transferring to Miami (but not entering the transfer portal). In this article it states

“NCAA rules do not prevent a student-athlete from unenrolling from an institution, enrolling at a new institution and competing immediately."

So whats the point of the transfer portal?

If you don't know where you are going it allows you to advertise yourself. That is the only thing I can think of.

"Wisconsin was refusing to put his name in the portal"

WTF does that even mean? Players have to count on their school cooperating in order to enter the portal? Sounds like he might have initially indicated that he was staying at Wisky, but he changed his mind, so too frickin' bad. The school can't hold him hostage. He announced his intentions to transfer during the portal entry period so I don't see what the big deal is.

Actually, the whole portal opening and closing thing is really kinda silly. Look at the Proctor fiasco last year. He decides in January to transfer, and then in March, well after the portal closed, decides that he wants to return to Alabama. The portal window opens again a few days before spring practice starts, so he's able to transfer back without even missing a practice. My guess is that there will be more and more of this and eventually the portal and its opening and closing dates just won't matter.

10 day portal opens up again on April 16th. Brad made it sound like they weren't finished in the portal yet. Certainly looking at Iowa adding a CB and maybe OL depth. I doubt Iowa has much interest, but former 4* Maliki Crawford out of USC just entered.
