Problem is, without looking at our total numbers, he's likely got more tackles than our 2018 starting LB's combined.
He's only in his second year and he is pretty much starting over. How many Fresh. did he start against us? Some of these people that are leaving may have been asked to, to clear the way to bring in more kids that fit Lovey's system. To say that he has been a 'disaster' is a little over the top. Give him another yr. or 2 then we can talk about it. I think for him to have any long term success, he has to recruit the Chicago area (and the state in general) and the St. Louis area better. Those are his 'footprints' in my opinion.
Has anyone here ever been to Champaign-Urbana? I haven't been since the 90s, but my memories of that place were that it was flat, ugly, and made out of concrete. I felt like my soul was being sucked into a horizontal-ness of despair. Are there any woods or distinguishing landscape features anywhere within 50 miles of that place? If I was an opposing coach I'd probably forfeit away games to the Illini just to make sure none of my players were infected by the overwhelming hopelessness of the place.
