Why didn’t KF take any of Hayden’s gems into the old playbook during his tenure… I can’t even remember the last time Iowa had a cool trick play that was a successful and led to a score or a conversion…

Woods was on a roll for a while with some ST trick plays. But seems like last 2-3 years we haven’t. Heck Kirk even called timeout at OSU before we converted a fake punt on 4th and short. Last trick play i can think of was half back pass first big 10 title game vs Michigan where we missed wide open guy in the end zone in 1st qtr. You’d think with awful offense BF would’ve tried anything including trick plays, but no.

That’s what I remember. We were at that game, and groaned when Michigan ran that same trick play against us, almost immediately after, to perfection. Almost like Harbaugh was saying, no this is the way you do it. Embarrassing.

Maybe I am misremembering, but it seems to me there was a time many years ago when there were questions as to why he never ran any trick plays. He finally did run one and it failed. He then commented to the media that’s why he didn’t run them.

I thought his trick play was throwing a pass beyond the first down marker on third down. Or maybe it’s punting on 4th and 2 from the opponents 40 yard line.

They are rare but not non-existent… A few years ago vs. tOSU and many years ago, there was halfback pass for a TD vs. . The Goofs…but trick plays aren’t Kirk’s style…What @trick pkats@ did Hayden run if note? The last real trick play I can think of is when Commings ran the “”boomeroski” vs. Wisky…

IIRC, there was one occasion when it looked like a non-QB (Washington?) wanted to throw the ball but didn't because the TE was covered in the end zone.
