trraore' ?

Not that it means anything, I don't recall the circumstances of his dismissal, but one of Lickliter's prized recruits Anthony Tucker was no where to be seen after the Purdue game on the 18th of January of 2009. Talk about a solid 3 point shooter, I remember him transferring to maybe Minnesota St., or not....

After Tucker picked up his second Public Intox, he was suspended from the team. He then asked for (and granted) a release from his scholarship.

I believe it was the evening that Tucker was discovered (semi)passed out in an alley in downtown IC that was the clinching blow. Too bad. When he was hot, he was pretty deadly. What really hurt Lickliter was the defection of his best player after every one of his seasons here. Not to mention his raucous behavior on the sidelines (I kid!).

Yep! As bad as the recruiting was, it was really the defections that killed him. Some was self-inflicted as he ran off the holdover PG from Alford (whose name I'm blanking on), then it was Jake Kelly -> gone, Aaron Fuller -> gone and a number of others.

I believe Aaron Fuller left when McCaffery was hired. He split for the West Coast and played for USC. Kelly allegedly left after his mother died, I believe. I would give him a bit of a pass although he was just coming off his first year as PG and was our best player. He became a Sycamore. When Freemen left, it soured Iowa's relationship with the Chicago Public School athletic system and one of it's kingpins, Gene Pingatore and it took awhile before we got any stud recruits from that usually talented pool.

I’m pretty sure Fuller was already gone before Fran. Gatens was going to leave too, if Lick wasn’t fired.

WE had LIcklier for 3 years. My recollection is:

Lickliter ran off Freeman after 1st year even though Freeman was the only guy that was making baskets and won a few games for him.

Fuller played 2 years at Iowa and left after Lickiter year 2 ---we was okay, but not a star at USC.
Tucker also left, but that was self implosion. Jake Kelly left for home--he had hardship excuse, today it would be portal and no need to have a reason. Jake was okay, not a star for Sycamores.

After LIckliter year3, Gatens was ready to leave and that forced Barta's hand. As bad as Lickliter was, his recruiting class of legacy Devyn Marble and Ben Brust would have included two Future B1G starters. A scholly opened up at Wisconsin and Bo poached Brust. Fran was able to retain Marble---neither MSU or Michigan offered.

Freeman seemed like he was told his role would diminish. Remember watching his dad play at IU.

And you left out Cody Larsen. Brust was the epitome of a Lickliter/Wisconsin player. He was lame.

Lickliters players weren't as bad as his record but no one wanted to play for him and that terrible style of basketball.
