Trump lies about US citizen crazy driver being an immigrant; We have top people who love to lie

Trump never said the driver was an illegal alien? The fbi did say it was NOT an act of terrorism though (before walking it back)

"Hours after a U.S. Army veteran plowed a truck into a crowd of revelers celebrating New Year’s on New Orleans’s Bourbon Street, leaving 14 dead and dozens injured, Fox News reported that the terror suspect’s vehicle was spotted crossing the U.S.-Mexico border just two days prior.

...Fox News soon walked back much of its reporting, noting that the vehicle had been spotted near the border in November rather than late-December and that it didn’t appear the suspect was the driver in that instance.

At that point, though, the genie was already out of the bottle. MAGA hardliners — who have already spent the past couple of weeks squabbling about immigration and visas — cited the Fox News story while demanding for the United States to “shut the border down” because an “illegal immigrant” was responsible for the heinous attack."

Truck apparently had a border connection...

So now we are supposed to be worried about immigrant vehicles? I imagine there are hundreds of vehicles crossing US borders every day. The fact that this one did was not proof that the driver was an immigrant even in the beginning of the investigation. The border crossing was exploited for political purposes.

No,.. merely a comment indicating that this vehicle had some history with the border.

True, but it didn't mean the driver was an immigrant despite the fact that certain news sources wanted to steer suspicions that way.

I don't think the plates matter as much as the fact that the vehicle had been identified crossing the border,.. However, the fact that this was a rental provides reasonable opportunity for explanation.
There's nothing illegal about crossing the border. I imagine in certain parts of Texas crossing the southern border is like someone from Council Bluffs driving into Omaha.

They didn't wait to responsibly find out the truth, they put out disinformation (it was initially stated the suspect crossed the border).
They put out that info in a knee jerk reaction, because it fit the narrative they wanted to push. Which wasn't true.

Why we wouldn’t expect the FBI and other agencies to investigate everything in a basic process of elimination?
Or be extremely aware that they weren’t thorough enough in Butler PA?

I created the internet and he was a part of the Balkans team

Not false. Name a potus who n last 60 years that was not a liar. Carter maybe? Reagan at least admitted it.

it is a false equivalency.

As far as Gore and the Internet, the real liars are the ones who kept quoting him as saying he “invented” the Internet. Gore did, indeed, take the initiative in creating the Internet and was widely derided for his constant hyping of the “Information Superhighway.” His words in that infamous interview were fundamentally true.

As Gingrich later said.

"In all fairness, it's something Gore had worked on a long time. Gore is not the Father of the Internet, but in all fairness, Gore is the person who, in the Congress, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet, and the truth is—and I worked with him starting in 1978 when I got [to Congress], we were both part of a 'futures group'—the fact is, in the Clinton administration, the world we had talked about in the '80s began to actually happen."

The bottom line is that one basically accurately quote from Gore followed him for years. Meanwhile, Trump tells blatant lies every day. By the hundreds.

So, yes, false equivalence. Get out of here with your nonsense.

This is what the media does,.. why are you surprised?

I'm surprised because it's the media's job to report the news, but it is the duty and responsibility of an elected official (especially someone who is about to become President) to get the facts before telling the entire country inaccurate information.
Little higher standard for the President, than 'the media'. Or, at least you'd wish that were true.

Trump is in the post fact world. The technique instead of spinning. Is to continually repeat false information no matter what. Flood the zone with information. So either people can’t tell the difference of fact from fiction or they’re too exhausted to figure out what is true.

The confusing story from Fox gave the target audience EXACTLY what they want to believe.

It's disgusting but not surprising.
Numpties...all of them.
