Trump planning to take power away from Congress...

That you can look at Kamala Harris and call her a "radical leftist" is 99% of the problem. Too many Americans are unmoored from political reality.

She is a radical leftist. How deranged are you man?

She advocated every single one of these policies. She was LEFT OF Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

She was the most radical candidate in US history. BY FAR!

-25% wealth confiscation
-Abolishing ICE
-Decriminalizing illegal crossings
-Defunding the police
-Mandatory gun buy backs (confiscations)
-Nationalizing energy
-Banning fracking
-Banning off shore drilling
-Abolishing the filibuster
-Stacking the Supreme Court
-Ending private health insurance
-Free healthcare for all including illegals
-Mass amnesty for illegals
-Ending the death penalty
-Abolishing prisons
-Ending cash bail
-Ending mandatory minimum sentences
-Imposing carbon tax
-Child gender reassignment surgery and hormone replacement therapy

Waiting for @FAUlty Gator and @binsfeldcyhawk2 to chime in to either apologize for being wrong for years or to tell us how this isn't authoritarianism, or no big deal. Again, you guys want checks and balances and Trump 100% wants to blow that up. Project 2025, or that famous red herring, wants to blow the Constitution up. I'm waiting for the both sides guys to start getting pissed off about what's about to happen to their country.

“Boy who cried wolf in 2016, cries wolf in 2024”

“But why won’t they believe me!”

If I counted right, you listed 19 things.

Several of them are made up. Several more almost certainly don't mean what you've been told they mean by your echo chamber.

The rest are actually good policies - policies we should be implementing or at least debating.

Of those, Kamala probably agreed with 2/3 when she ran in 2019-20 and maybe agreed with 1/3 in 2024.

In regards to the thread title.

The legislative branch has acceded more and more power to the executive branch since Teddy Roosevelt
They’ve willingly abrogated their responsibilities and power to the executive branch.

Just my 2 bits.

Interesting article on the subject

Older article but if anything executive power has grown

Here’s one from the Trump first term

I read this as you saying Trump having more power is no biggie.

Actually congress abrogating their power to the executive branch is a bigger problem than Trump.

He’s going to take advantage of it for sure. You won’t like it. I probably won’t like it.

The thing is people like you have no problem when it’s your guy doing it.

Biden used the Covid “emergency” and the Heroes act in August of 22 for his first student loan relief. Executive over reach that was rightfully struck down by the Supreme Court. You’d term his action “authoritarian” if his last name was trump.

Couple more biden “authoritarian” (your definition) actions you didn’t give 2 shits about because you agreed with them

So now Trump will push executive power to the limit and you won’t like it. Maybe you should have cared about the abuse of executive authority before now.
Don’t get me started on the filibuster which you railed against and now it’s the democrats best friend.

Ironically it’s the court that’ll be the check

Lol. You’re so full of shit comparing Trump to Biden. You literally can’t stop yourself.

Did Biden do ANYTHING for personal gain?

The difference is that when Biden may have overreached, he was doing it to protect and help people.

What's your guy's excuse?

That sounds like a great idea. It’s sad that the D’s continue to spend money we don’t have.
Lmao, stink'n cons will not even pay the bills they put on the old CC. Every year they, dead beats run up the bills and refuse to pay them when they are due.

I've been thinking about this. Should we do a what-about-Biden going forward?

Did Biden get approval from Congress to ignore immigration laws by EO?
This is my favorite - Did Biden get approval from Congress (per Nancy Pelosi) to forgive student loan debt?
Has Biden gotten approval from Congress for the aid to Ukraine funneled through the DoD budget?

I'll stop there for a moment. There doesn't seem to be an understanding of all the slush funds in the federal government that are allocated to departments to spend as they see fit. Earmarks aren't always a bad idea.

Trump is a traitor to our nation and always has been. He violated his oath of office on a daily basis in his first administration and will continue to do so in his second.
The constitution is just a piece of paper. And old.

If the UK doesn't need a formal written constitution, why should we?

And if we are going to have one, let's bring it into the 21st century.

(Serious about the last point.)

Your problem is you believed that printing money is a solution and thereby don't understand reducing the deficit will help people.
That's way out in left field. Republicans don't reduce deficits. They will try to cut some spending, but then they'll use that as an excuse to cut taxes on the rich by even more.

And, meanwhile, the spending they cut - doubtless heavily from the safety net and other important services - will leave people worse off.

MMT was from WAAAAY out in left field, you still fell for it, and still don't seem to grasp why it is a terrible and regressive tax.

And, meanwhile, the spending they cut - doubtless heavily from the safety net and other important services - will leave people worse off.
Again, inflation is a regressive tax. We're never going to come out ahead inflating the money supply to transfer wealth - the poor bear the brunt in prices of consumption goods, while the rich are protected (even sometimes advantaged) by increasing asset prices.
Quit supporting regressive policies.
