Donald Trump said Monday night that he believes Hillary Clinton will likely get away with her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, but said that as president, it's only fair that he'd look to prosecute Clinton.

Fox News' Sean Hannity asked Trump in front of a live Nevada audience if his attorney general would go after Clinton should an investigation find she broke the law while serving in the Obama administration.

"You have no choice," Trump replied. "In fairness, you have to look into that."

"She seems to be guilty," he said. "But you know what, I wouldn't even say that."

"But certainly, it has to be looked at," Trump added. "If a Republican wins, if I'm winning, certainly you will look at that as being fair to anyone else. So unfair to the people that have been prosecuted over the years for doing much less than she did."

The billionaire business mogul explained the statutes of limitations would still allow him to prosecute Clinton for any crimes she committed from 2009 to 2013.

But Trump said he wouldn't wait until January 2017 to begin his prosecution, motioning toward the summer and fall months as prime time for non-legal attacks on her, regardless of who wins the nomination.

"If I'm the nominee, this is not gonna be a subject that's gonna die down very easily," said Trump.

Hannity asked if Clinton might be running to help ensure that a Republican doesn't prosecute her for how she allowed classified information to be routinely sent around on her non-secure server, and Trump agreed that Clinton is running the race of her life for that very reason.

"So she's being protected, but if I win, certainly it's something we're going to look at," he said.

The self-funded candidate criticized how the government has gone after other leaders like former CIA Director David Petraeus for lesser crimes, but has not followed suit against Clinton.

If Trump is elected, I bet Obama issues a preemptive pardon

So, he's declared himself to be a grand jury and has already determined that she should be prosecuted even though he hasn't seen any of the alleged evidence against her. Yep, that shows enough respect for the law and due process for someone we'd want as President

Either that or all the evidence will mysteriously disappear during the transition between Obama to Trump.

Doesn't sound to me like anyone's pre-emptively declaring her guilt although given that there was classified information on her private E-mail server it seems the threshold for a crime has already been shown.

Good bet.

I doubt Hillary actually broke the law, but I have no problem with Donald saying he would look into it and maybe prosecute as president.

What if Obama pardoned her before the nomination or before the election. Would that kill Hillary's run?

It's sort of like pleading the 5th. You can do it, but it isn't cost free.

Hardly so.

It is a brilliant move for Trump from an election standpoint. He really plays the part of bully friend quite well.

He won't. Him and his attorney general are around to make sure she isn't prosecuted. Even if he suddenly dies then Biden is there to protect her.

So no point in issuing a pardon during the nomination process or election. It's only if she loses during his lame duck period would he need to issue a pardon to protect her. Honestly there should be a rule anyways. It should have been there with Nixon and it should be there now. No pardons until you've been convicted of a crime. Presidents shouldn't get to protect their political friends from even being prosecuted and spending even a day in prison.

What if there is an indictment or the FBI arrests her?

What if, while she is campaigning in Arizona, Sheriff Joe arrests her?

I think Hillary should avoid Arizona. What other states?

Kind of like there are countries that Dick Cheney can't visit for fear of arrest.

Do you feel that way about Jimmy Carter's blanket pardon of all Vietnam draft dodgers?

Holy shite that would be awesome. I wouldn't stop laughing for weeks.

Yes, although I would advocate for a crime like that the statue of limitations should not be long. No reason to be hunting down people for dodging a draft 20 years after the end of the war.

Does anyone here actually read Trump's comments? They are twice as bad as Sarah Palin's ramblings. The linked comments demonstrate that. Trump just makes one tangentially associated comment after another, then skips over to building a wall.

This is the kind of thing Trump and the Clintons laugh about over a $10 kajillion bottle of wine and golden caviar. Haha, remember when I said that I would prosecute you? Yeah, haha, voters are stupid as fvck.

Trump is getting sued right now over his fraudulent Trump University, think it goes to trial in a couple months. He actually was deposed secretly the day he announced his Muslim ban last December. That's your two likely nominees for you in 2016....

I posted this in another thread but there is method to Trump's madness. Check out Dilbert writer Scott Adams on CNN.

Obama will pardon her sooner or later. The Dems are hoping later. Most pardons do take place after the general election so that the party doesn't have to worry about fallout.

An indictment before the election will be bad. IMO if Obama has to pardon her prior to the election that would be fatal in her chance of getting elected.

(FTR, I am really interested in seeing how many people Obama pardons. Lot of prisoners are looking at this as an opportunity for freedom).
