He and Bibi are serious about this abhorrent plan:
President Trump said on Monday that he could cut aid to Jordan and Egypt if they refused his demand to permanently take in most Palestinians from Gaza, substantially increasing the pressure on key allies in the region to back his audacious proposal to relocate the entire population of the territory in order to redevelop it.
The president also said from the White House that if Hamas did not release all the remaining Israeli hostages by “12 o’clock on Saturday,” the cease-fire agreement with Israel should be canceled.
“All hell is going to break out,” Mr. Trump said to reporters in the Oval Office, while acknowledging that the choice over ending the cease-fire ultimately fell to Israel.
Jordan and Egypt, both major recipients of U.S. military and economic aid, have rejected any suggestion that Palestinians be relocated to their countries. But Mr. Trump said on Monday that the assistance could be in jeopardy.

Ya, because the previous U.S. middle east policy has been so successful bring peace, hasn't it?

All of these can be true at the same time:
  1. Trump is re-igniting the flames of hatred against America in the Middle East. This makes our troops and citizens in the region less safe.
  2. A two state solution is the only viable way forward, but that means both Israeli and Palestinian hard liners have to admit the other side has a right to be there…so ain’t going to happen.
  3. Jordan and Egypt have not done enough to help with this situation. They should take in more refugees and provide pathways to citizenship. It’s in everyone’s long term interest that the Palestinians have a future unencumbered by Hamas - one step forward is to allow peaceful refugees to find a better life in the region.
  4. America should stay the f*ck out of Gaza. We have enough problems here at home. Why should American troops die in Gaza (and make no mistake, some would die) just so we can have a beachfront Trump hotel on the Med?

The real question is how many celebrity restaurants they’ll have. If Guy Fieri isn’t serving some over-garlic’d chicken wings in Gaza by 2029, I’m gonna be pissed.

I mostly agree with these points, although I would point out the Jordan has the second highest population of refugees per capita in the world. They also host 600,000 Syrian refugees. I've seen various numbers for Palestinian refugees some as high as 2 million. I can understand their position that they may not be able to absorb more refugees.

We need to stay the **** out of the Middle East.

US aid to Egypt and Jordan should have been cut out a long time ago. Carter brokering a peace deal with Egypt that sends over a billion dollars annually to them is a ****ing joke.

The one hope I have for the Trump presidency is to end the foreign gravy train. If Trump is serious about “draining the swamp,” it needs to start with the swamp overseas.

**** the Middle East.

Why are we giving them aid in the first place?

That wasn't ever the goal. It had more to do with stability in the oil market than anything else. Peace is one way to create that, but it's really hard and probably impossible. It is easier just to keep the oil producers happy and they can use their production capabilities to keep the prices stable.

I agree with all of these points except #1. The Arab world is going to hate America regardless of what we do. That will never change so long as there is Islam and the idiotic belief the West is evil and the infidel.

Liberals want to let our fragile democracy burn to the ground because of Trump, which I understand completely, then they should also have no problem with the Middle East going up in flames. If the end result is the purging of Islam and the ceasing of fighting over which Abrahamic sky wizard granted random pieces of land to whom, then I say that is not the worst possible outcome.

Either I misunderstand or Trump misunderstands.

By shuttering USAID did he not already cut their aid?
Any aid letitlegitimately appropriated yes, now he gets to pick and choose sending funds to do his bidding and corruption. The corruption is mind boggling and beyond disturbing at this point. Full Constitution Crisis

Lulz

Meanwhile the last administration just congratulated a jihadists with a $10 million U.S. bounty on his head for coming to power in Syria.

Are you in favor of removing all aid in the Middle East Israel as well? They received more than Jordan and Egypt combined in the past year. For Isreal it is all military aid.

Why are you associating me with that?

Liberals want to let our fragile democracy burn to the ground because of Trump, which I understand completely, then they should also have no problem with the Middle East going up in flames. If the end result is the purging of Islam…”

The ‘liberals’ just congratulated a designated terrorist for coming to power in Syria, before that they helped jihadists overthrow the government in Libya.
We seem to be going in the opposite direction of ‘purging Islam’, we’re empowering its worst elements at our highest levels.

That was my point.

Liberals should be on board with it.

Yet hawkeyetraveler finds it so easy to say "They should take in more refugees and provide pathways to citizenship."
It is easy to say because it is the only viable way out of this. Jordan, Egypt and Israel should help settle displaced refugees for the long term stability of the region. They should also invest in building up a viable Palestinian nation without Hamas at the top as part of a two state solution. It is a regional problem.

I guarantee if I look for it I will find posts from you, Scruddy and other MAGA disciples that say you liked the fact Trump was going to keep us out of the Middle East. And now y’all want to build a golf course there?

And yet the people they vote for help jihadists take over countries.
Try asking one on here which of the wars Hillary worked to get our country involved in is their favorite.
Crickets.
Why is it that just because I hate Trump and recognize him for the clown he is that the only alternative in yours and others’ minds is that I am a liberal?

It’s a ridiculous false dichotomy.
