Wife's dad sent this to her so we can start preparing. Are you prepared? If not, watching the following video means you're one of the lucky ones.

It continues to blow my mind that Boomers see their kids and grandkids as the enemy.

Imagine benefitting from every socialist program conceivable from heavily subsidized public schools as children, to heavily subsidized colleges as students, to strong unions as workers, to cheap housing as parents, all the way to Social Security and Medicare as retirees.

Then imagine pulling the ladder up behind you each time you no longer need these programs robbing your kids and grandkids of all the programs you benefitted from.

And finally, imagine using crap like this video as an excuse to stick it to your "woke millennial." kids to make sure they get no inheritance because you spent all your money on revenge scams.

Boomers truly are the most selfish generation.

100% agreed. And this is not to absolve the Millenialls or Gen Z as their are legitimate complaints about them. But the Boomers benefitted immensely and now they want to remove many of those same benefits. Unreal.

FTR, Millenialls suck. Boomers are even worse. Two awful generations.

Boomers are sitting on $50 trillion in assets right now. But it's expected that very little of that will be passed on to the next generations.

The 48-60 second mark is when Northern jizzed all over himself.
I must compliment Teddy's production team. There were far fewer blacks ransacking in the video than I assumed there would be.

Is that Cheeto reading the ad text or is it AI?
You can pretty much tell it's AI, but of course the creators know the people they're trying to reach are morons so it doesn't matter. And if it ends up being popular, Trump will take credit for it anyway, no matter how insane it is.

I was watching a video on You Tube and that thing popped in as one of the ads. I also got the US currency ends 4/24/2024 ad as well, probably because I open Northern Hawkeye posts on HORT.

Wow, more of this BS. It blows my mind that some of you view your parents generation as the enemy. College is expensive as it is because the boomers had the money to pay for their kids. If your parent didn’t pay for your college it’s on you and your parents. One of my kids will get his PHD next Dec and walk away with zero loans. It’s not the boomers fault, it’s your parent.

The cost of living has jumped considerably because the liberals want equal pay for everyone. Is it too hard to understand that if you pay high salaries to everyone, everything is going to cost more to produce. That’s great autoworkers got a nice contract, but don’t be shocked when the price of cars shoot up. Now all you young people want the boomers to pay for you to live.

LOL. I'm on pace to retire at 50. I kick ass regardless of who is President. You cry when your generation is called out.

That’s great, so you’re proof the boomers didn’t impact your ability to be successful.

Wow. Just a note… college is expensive because student loans were handed out like candy and the institutions all kept raising rates due to the free money. Kinda what you are seeing in Iowa right now with private school tuition. Liberals don’t want equal pay for everyone, but rather better pay for the middle/bottom vs it all going to the 1%. You’d think the CEOs would be ok with it knowing they will eventually get it all back when those earners spend more.

Anyway, sorry to interrupt the boomer and millennial bashing. Carryon.

I agree with you on the loans but that’s only part of it, the other part is boomers have also been paying for their kids which also allows for colleges to increase. But both what you claim and I claim doesn’t justify what these kids are claiming, that boomers are “sticking it to the younger generations”. I do disagree with liberals not wanting everyone to have a high salary. While I agree that CEO’s make too much money, what they make doesn’t really impact how much regular employees make. I work at a fortune 500 and if you took the CEO and divided among the employees, we’d get a dime.

The kids aren’t wrong either. Lots of truth. Boomers had all the advantages, handouts, or whatever you want to call it. They had SS, Medicare, union jobs, pensions, etc. over the past couple of decades they have eliminated or are eroding the advantages they once had so the next generation can’t benefit from them too.

There’s still union jobs and they’re paying better than ever. The Pensions were replaced by 401k and that’s better for the younger generation because the 401k follows the employee rather than people who have stayed at jobs the hated because of their pension. FYI, not every company has pensions, they started going away in the 80’s. I certainly don’t have one. So this idea that all boomers have a pension is just false. I know my dad had a pension and because he did, his yearly salary wasn’t very high.

Nobody said they all have them, but many had them plus 401k when those became available. And Unions jobs do pay better than a lot of jobs, but they are fewer than past and unions aren’t as prevalent. You can argue all you want but there’s truth in the complaints. Not saying all are valid and that all boomers are greedy, etc, but they aren’t totally wrong.

What you’re talking about is just the normal evolution, especially with technology and jobs moving to other countries. Ask the young people today if they’re wanting someone to negotiate their salary for them, or that they need to stay at the same company for 30 years in order to get a pension. If they do want that then go find a union job. Most will switch jobs if they get a better offer. They can’t have it both ways.

Maybe if they got a pension, good wages, benefits, opportunity to advance and leaders who supported them and cared beyond just output younger people wouldn’t feel inclined to move around.

Inflation is -49.5 from 1990 to 2020. So $1 in 1990 is $0.505 in 2020.
In 1990 the average CEO wage was $1.8 million a year. In 2020 the average CEO wage was $24.4 million a year.
In 1990 the average household made $37,403 a year. In 2020 the average household made $67,521.
In 1990 the average cost of a house was $122,900. In 2020 the average cost of a house was $336,900.
$37,403 adjusted for inflation in 2020 is $74,065.29. In other words, over $7,000 in pay has been lost.
$1.8 million adjusted for inflation is $3,564,353.48. Net gain of over $20 million.
In 1990 for a year of college, it was $5,590. In 2020 for a year of college, it was $28,775.
A year of college in 1990 was $11,862 in 2020 dollars. 1990 house prices adjusted for inflation was $243,366.13

I could not pull up much data on medicine just because of how entrenched the companies are about hiding the actual prices, the cost of medicine and medical procedures are whatever they want it to be.

So yes, the US worker is getting savaged left and right. The businesses and CEOs are raking it in by taking it from the average US citizen.

Oh I see, they want everything. Come on, do you really think boomers had all of that? I don’t have a pension, or much opportunity for advancement. I do like my job and they pay me pretty good. my friend who has a pension had to take early retirement because they made him work 60-70 hours a week (as an accountant). He was never able to take his full vacation without fear of being let go. You can’t have everything.

Imagine thinking all of this is true I guess it would make it easy to quit. The variable change but he path is still paved with hard work and a tad bit of sacrifice.
Every hard luck story I read in yahoo about how bad it is always gives the truth somewhere. 100,000 in debt from 4 years of college. Give me a break. Make reasonable choices. Tuition at niacc in 1993 was about 1800 for the year virtually every part time job=$4.15. Niacc this year about 5,800 almost all part time jobs around $15. Pick an appropriate pathway.

College is expensive because Boomers paid for their kids to go? Logic of a f'ing Boomer. No wonder they think they are doing/did so well. Thanks for nothing!!

What jobs as a college student are paying $15 an hour? Iowa still holds one of the lowest minimum wages in the country ($7.25 since 2009). So it's gone up $3.10 in 30 years since you went to school, while tuition has gone up 5x (for a CC!) according to your figures?

I think you had it a little easier, bootstraps.👍

The cost of college kept increasing because there has been no shortage of people going so the colleges can continue to increase the cost. Those people going to college are paying either by taking out loans, or parents paying, or a combination. If you removed the parents, there would have been a lot less kids going to college. My kids wouldn't have been able to go, they didn't qualify for any type of (interest after college) loans. As long as people are paying, the colleges are going to continue to increase their tuition.

If Iowa has the lowest minimum wage, that's not the colleges fault. That's a state problem and on the governor.
