“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true," Trump falsely implied, hours before the FBI identified the suspect as a U.S. citizen from Texas.

The fact that so many idiots voted for this man is perplexing.

It's downright disheartening and disgusting at the same time.

Well, anyone who voted for Trump due to a belief he tells the truth most certainly is an idiot.

It's dumbfounding yes, and Republicans could have ran Bobo the chimp and he'd have still garnered 40% of the vote. The reality is that it doesn't matter what he says as long as it's shitting on someone else that his followers don't like. The truth and facts are irrelevant to the discussion. This is how demagogues operate and succeed.

With all of that said, does anyone actually disagree that border security is a problem and that too many criminals enter the country illegally?
The GOP doesn't care they killed legislation to address it so they could run on it. The takeaway here is Trump is lying and gaslighting his base for gain with zero plan or cares to address anything other then pure evil and cruelty.

I do hope that once Trump passes, that his base will be fractured. I thought Desantis was a more intelligent and dangerous version of Trump and was amazed at how little support he garnered in the primaries. Trump is unique and will be difficult to "replace".

Yeah…for 50 years. It’s truly a both parties issue. The border is honestly about 10th on my list of concerns for this nation. If it was as big of a problem as politicians say it is they would solve it together.

No, but if every problem or incident is blamed on a group of people regardless of the facts of the matter, how is that helpful in directing attention and resources to where they can solve problems. This constant demonization of immigrants and the border as the root of all problems in this country has become a cancer in this country. Republicans will say that they're only talking about illegal immigration and criminals but that's bullshit. Look at the civil war brewing on the right over H1B visas and the arguments over which country's people should even be considered. Shit, look at the comments on this board and you know that's mostly bullshit.

Nah, its because its more than a 4 to 8 year issue to resolve. No politician wants to put resources or themselves on the line for results they can't realize during their term in office.

I am not championing the Republicans as problem solvers of illegal immigration. I think my posting history on how unserious Trump is as a commander in chief let alone an adult speaks for itself.

It’s still an issue that matters. At least to me.

Because too many could not bear the thought of a black lady running the country. Economy be damned, this was the real reason. How many people in exit polls would admit to this?

Well you could be a US citizen but born in the middle east. But I am hearing that this wacko in New Orleans was born in the USA. Can you please edit your thread title to say something like Trump reponse is wrong, false, a lie; driver born in the US

Trump did his usual blurting out shit from his mouth saying the shooter was an immigrant in order to inflame his base and citizens. Trump is just dangerous and I agree with as to how could so many people believe what he says

I wasn't implying that. The border should be secured, but facts matter and resources are limited. No plausible study has shown that immigrants, legal or undocumented, commit crimes at a higher rate than others, but every single one that gets committed becomes national news and a talking point for reigning in immigrants and illegal immigration. Young women are sexually assaulted or killed by the thousands every year in this country by native born Americans, and yet the only one that got played on a loop was that of Laken Riley. You'd have thought she was the only victim of these heinous crimes or that her perpetrator is typical of undocumented immigrants. This idea that these people are inherently more violent than the current U.S. population has no statistical basis behind it, and yet the American public has been led to believe that this is the single greatest threat to their well being and that's a lie.

And this was going on before the Biden admin, say 2018, right here in rural Iowa…

I am 100% in agreement with you and am tired of the gaslighting. I will say, however, the issue goes beyond violent crime.

The head of a law enforcement advocacy group lashed out at President Barack Obama in the wake of the Dallas shootings that left five police officers dead, accused the president of carrying out a “war on cops.”

“I think [the Obama administration] continued appeasements at the federal level with the Department of Justice, their appeasement of violent criminals, their refusal to condemn movements like Black Lives Matter, actively calling for the death of police officers, that type of thing, all the while blaming police for the problems in this country has led directly to the climate that has made Dallas possible,” William Johnson, the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, said in an interview with Fox on Friday morning.

He put out an apology for jumping to conclusions and said he would try to be more accurate in the future.

Truth, the final frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Trumpprise.
Its continuing mission: to explore strange new "facts,"
To seek out new spins and alternative realities,
To boldly claim things no one has claimed before.

People that aren't supposed to be here in the first place should be expected to commit zero crimes...
I know right? I think anyone who is allowed to roam freely among us should be expected to commit zero crimes. It's a completely rational and reasonable expectation. It's hard to believe that a certain percentage of any population cannot be trusted. We should lock up everyone just in case.
