I don't know that it's really a Russian thing. These guys love them some autocrats who pretend to be Christians. Think Orban, Putin, and Trump....

You should probably read and understand history. Russia warned the west going back to Yeltsin and Gorbachev what would happen if NATO expanded. And Putin's point was that if NATO existed to counter the Soviet Union why was it still needed. Our own political incompetence made Russia an enemy. Do you really want to risk WW3 over the Ukraine, two corrupt countries, neither a democracy (although you lefties want to pretend the Ukraine is), it is just pointless for Americans to waste our arsenal and spend money for something of no strategic value. China is the enemy, Iran is the enemy.
I have a BA in History. I lived in Ukraine for 6 weeks in 2011 in Kiev and Dnipro and keep in touch with people there.
There won't be a WW3 from America giving aid to Ukraine. It would be the world vs. Russia.
Putin made Russia the enemy of the free world. America and the U.N. tried to bring Russia into the world community after the Soviet Union fell and Putin rejected all that.
Who would side with Russia militarily? China? Doubtful.

First of all, if the Ukraine invasion proves nothing else, Russia is weak militarily. It wouldn't last a week in a conventional war with the US, or any of our allies for that matter. The point is that Putin is no Hitler, or Stalin. A brutal dictator, absolutely. But he does not threaten the rest of Europe, and he has probably learned a lesson. He is isolated, in trouble with his own people, the Russian economy is going down the tubes quickly. What does he have to lose by going nuclear? Not another penny should be spent on the Ukraine. You let Putin keep the Russian speaking areas of the Ukraine. You then try and convict Zelensky of corruption. Putin is about done, and he is surrounded by even more hardliners. Let him up slowly, but this is not America's fight.
Because Putin inherited all the Soviet nukes and military infrastructure.
Easy peasy.
What do you do for a living? What interests do you have outside of Russian politics? Are you married with children?
