Turk's Injury

If that's true.... Quick recovery!! Dang!!
Topher has experience -hes a tough shit! IMO- still give him the upper hand over Turk either way. Carton has the experience, tough defense, always going forward- and strong as an OX!

Shoulder surgery

Even if this is true I take it to mean he already had the surgery before the season. If not it would be confusing why the interviews out of Iowa media day from this week are still acting like Carton is in a competition for the spot.

Maybe I missed something I haven't been able to follow as closely the last year and a half, what happened to Logan Ryan/Connor Ryan? I would think Logan would be in the mix.

They just mentioned on FRL something about Turks injury, I'm hitting myself because I lost focus reading something else and didn't hear what Turks injury was. But they said that Carton is going to be the guy for Iowa this year.

wonder if he would be able to get medical hardship like abounader did from Michigan? wonder what the criteria is for that.

knee injuries due to not being ready and respecting the competition?

Not a good start.

Abounader hadn't used a redshirt yet, while Turk used his last year. His chances of getting another year are slim

your pry right, after doing some research and it would be very difficult for him to get one at this point. in order to be granted one, you have to miss 2 seasons worth of competition, one being the medical hardship and another year. but every circumstance is different.

He wrestled 1 match and MFF out. If I remember right, medical redshirts are based on if you participate in a certain percentage of the season and get hurt, you are granted one or not. I would think 1 match would certainly be underneath the percentage. Pretty sure whether you took a redshirt or not does not matter. You see quite a few 6th year seniors. Cody Pack of SDSU last year got a medical redshirt after a redshirted freshman year.

The medical hardship like Kaid Brock took last year and Abounader are taking this year is when you hadn't used a redshirt yet. The sixth year is what Cody Pack received and that is when you miss most if not all of two seasons

If Turk has another year down the road that is missed due to injury he would be looking at a possible hardship year. Let's hope that doesn't happen. Feel bad for Turk. I think he was primed for a good season.

Turk has been dealing with a shoulder on and off since his senior year of HS. Have no inside info on his current set back, but I have to believe it's the shoulder again. Hopefully finally getting surgery he can put it behind him. Feel awful for the young man... I'm sure he's devastated.

I don't think Turk was going to score any NCAA points, but its still bad news. Can Glosser or Happel beat Carton?

Carton will be the starter. Turk was going to be a solid starter and win a couple matches at NCAAs, IMO. Carton might end up giving us the same thing, but there is less upside there.

Bad news for Turk. Shoulder injuries are tough. Sometimes they never heal or are the same. Best of luck to Turk.

As for Iowa this changes nothing. Carton was always going to be the starter and no results tell us anything different.

I'll disagree with this... Again. You speak of it as if it's gospel, and it was far from.

Cause of how well he wrestles in the practice room? There have been a million practice room warriors. Cause of his win over Gross? I'm not going to sit here and bash on a kid I like. I'm saying looking at his resume there is nothing there that says otherwise.

Carton is very close to being very good. Let's hope he can have a great year.
