The 2nd TD was on Gervase, not Jackson
I disagree. Jackson allowed 2 vertical routes to run right by him side by side, in cover 2 rules, he has to run with the outside receiver when he sees two vertical routes in his zone (he had no 'flat' threat) as Gervase cannot cover both the post and the corner route. Jackson stood there next to a LB and covered 'air'.

Fair enough. Disagree on one, I thought Gervase broke the wrong way and Lee read it.
Gervase can't cover a post and the corner route at the same time. It appeared they were in cover 2 and normally in cover 2 rules if you (Jackson) have 2 vertical threats in your zone, you need to run with the outside receiver. Jackson allowed 2 vertical routes to run right by him side by side and didn't go with either one of them (Jackson had no flat or 'under' threat). The inside receiver broke on a post route which Gervase rightfully broke to and the outside receiver ran a corner route. He can't cover both. Jackson squatted and and stood next to a LB and covered 'air'. Jackson appeared to 'guess' the route combo was a 'smash route' and he guessed wrong.
He had pretty good coverage on the first TD (the LB's could've helped him by 'sinking' deeper as there was NO 'under' receivers) but he has been beat at least a couple times by slants in the endzone (and others).. He plays fades about as well as anyone, but to be good in the NFL, he needs to get a lot stronger at the LOS in press, tackle better, and leverage slants better, thus why I say he still has a lot to learn and would benefit from another yr.

But also like I have said, If the 'agents' and scouts tell him he'll go first round, I could hardly blame the kid for leaving, but we also don't know if he has ANY desire to leave. He will get pretty good advice. I think KF does a good job of being honest with the kids about their prospects and putting them in contact with good NFL 'people' to make sure they have reliable information. Agents will tell kids 'anything' if they think they can make a buck.

I wasn't saying anyone was wrong, I was just saying that I haven't heard anyone make that prediction that he is even thinking about leaving, except on message boards. I still think he has a lot to learn, and you do realize he was burnt twice for Nebby's 2 TD's? I wonder if he'll talk to King and I wonder what King would tell him? I don't really care one way or another. I wish him the best whether his stays or goes.

I wouldnt say that he got beat, looked like they were in cover 2 and he redirected the receiver a little bit, his only issue is that he stopped getting depth. It was good play design by Nebraska, held Gervase with the inside receiver so he couldn't get over.

Jackson has to just keep getting deeper until someone threatens in front of him. So i guess you could technically say it was his fault but Nebraska got what they hoped from it.

One the first one, I haven't had a chance to re-watch but right away Jackson looked back right away like he was expecting help or something crossed him up. Anyone notice that or notice what he was looking at?

REALLY excited about our secondary next year.

Think Manny comes back and has a great year and we have Hankins that is going to be a stud on the other side. That is with the possibility of Jackson coming back (long shot).

Safety we have a healthy Hooker and Stone...probably as good of a combo we have seen in a while. Also have Ojemudea who has had big bright spots, just needs consistency.

The only area I see of concern is LB but we have some talent that wants to play.

I hope Brandon Snyder can go through a full year Rehab again. If he cannot, then we are still in good shape at Safety and CB, IMHO. The whole defense will depend on the 3 new LBers. Someone in another post suggested that maybe Snyder could come back as an OLB or WLB. I could see that, since Stone really looks the part of safety, as does Hooker.

At one LB spot, I would sure like to see Amani Jones. He was a freight train on special teams. Likes to hit people and run over them. Sounds like a MLB to me, but I know that the staff is looking at JUCO help for the LBs. Maybe Hockaday is hurt enough that they don’t want to put all of their eggs in that one basket. I have zero inside info on what is going on there, but there are a lot of athletes on the roster already at LB: Hock, Jones, Mends, Welch, little Nieman, little Taylor, Weiland. Doyle’s son is a big hitter coming in, as is Sumerland (?) from Michigan, who is supposed to be a freak athlete. Also talk of moving Djimon Colbert from Safety.

They wouldn’t consider a JUCO unless they thought there was a need. Hmmmmmm.

On the second TD, It was a good play design and I bet the ran it because they picked up a tendency in film and exploited it. Nebraska has a really, really good passing game even though they stink.

I see in that first play when the ball was in the air, it looked like to me that he looked at Jewell thinking he was going to tip it or something, so there was a slight hesitation and he didn't really make a play on the pass. He was under the receiver, so could have made a play on the ball if he kept going.
After looking at it again, I see what you mean and at the end of the play JJ turns and puts his hand up like 'what the...'. Could be a little confusion in coverage. We obviously don't need 2 LB's standing side by side covering air. If either one of them sink a little deeper the QB probably can't squeeze that in there.
