Tyler Cook senior highlights

Get that man in black and gold. Love that he expects to dunk every time he goes up. Also, he may get T'd up once in a while for taunting, but I like the swagger.

He'll play, but how much will be determined by his post defense.

I think he can dunk.

Seriously...physically he looks more developed than any big we've had coming in since Jared Cole....he'll get plenty of minutes next year because of need/ability.

It's too bad Woody is going to be gone. I think Tyler could have expanded his layup game with Woody's help next year.

TC could be the best dunker since Gerry Wright. That remains to be seen. But putting him on a pedestal, I am.

His defense will be what gets him the most minutes next year. Hopefully he has game there!

My pants fit funny after watching that. Love the athleticism, but really liked seeing a few actual post moves, as well as the ability to handle the ball. Caught a little baby hook in there as well. And all of that appeared to be against decent competition with defenders his size. Can't wait to watch him develop.

TC has some very polished post moves and array of shots that you have to watch a lot of his vids to see but they are there and they are impressive. The around the back move in the lane was new to me and does show the ability to handle the ball.

I am probably most impressed with the way he can handle/hold onto the ball with either hand around the rim and for the dunk finish. He likes dunking with his left hand just as much as his right....not easy to do but much like how Jarrod can use either hand around the rim which is a HUGE upside for any player. Very hard to defend along with his size as he uses his big body and strength to over power players.

And yes, the comp against him in this vid is not easy street. All year long. Take that "Big fella" as well.

TC is a very special commit.

Just for fun. What are we getting with Cook? I'm impressed with his athleticism. But, to me he fits into a very common mold of the traditional big bodied power forward who can dunk in traffic.

Deyonte Davis at Michigan State. Carter and Dodd at Maryland.

Yes, I'm delighted to have Cook at Iowa. Just asking, what are we getting?

Just a cook, not a chef.

That's kinda what I'm getting at, if you know what I mean. I hope people don't expect 20 points a night out of him. His game is going to be the usual inside the paint banger type and yeah we can use it. And maybe he will develop some more. Right now, I think his passing is ahead of other aspects.

Anyway, I just hope we don't hear a bunch of, "Get the ball to Cook!" stuff. Every player plays a role...they aren't all the leading scorer.

Yep. He's not a one & done, but I do believe he'll make an immediate impact, just not what some people are expecting.

I'm looking forward to how Fran uses him with Jok in pick and roll actions. Let's just say, probably a better finisher than Woody ;)

I would take 6 & 6 in conference play his freshman year. There will be highlights, but he's the second option on his hs team and anyone who is expecting more than good effort and good boards will likely put him in the he's the next Woody club. Just because he's a four star he's not going to go for a double double every night.

If Dale Jones is healthy he'd be ahead of him at the 4 and Wagner may challenge him at the 5 even tho Cook has better size.

He's an amazing athlete and will be great for the Hawks, but he's very raw and will be a bit of a project. He fills a huge need for us and oozes potential.
