Tyreke Locure--Iowa going to offer?

Wow, rough start to life.

He sounds like exactly what Fran has been looking for, but from reading other posts I get the feeling it may be another Charlie Moore situation.

His brother Terrance was a terrific shooter and did well in JuCo last year but I never read where he ended up this year. Maybe he didn't end up anywhere. He did have a little more height from what I remember though

I've seen him a couple of times in person in the DSM metro. He'd be a really high level prospect if he was taller. Plus, I've heard that there are some attitude issues. If he gets those straightened out and can get lucky with a growth spurt, he'll be a very good college player, in my opinion. I know he's been up to ISU a couple of times, but I don't think they've offered yet either.

It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Sounds like the perfect PG to me, assuming his attitude is straightened out.

Comments like, "smartest ever" and " sees the floor 2 plays ahead of everyone else" are exactly what you want. Plus, he can score.

Don't believe me? Put in your DVR (or VHS) of Baylor's blowout win over the Hawks in the NIT final a few years ago. Baylor's PG needed platform shoes to get to 5'10.

He is about the same size as another highly coveted PG that Fran whiffed on a couple of years ago, I think his name Tyler Ulis and I believe he now plays for the Suns in the NBA.
Nah, you're getting confused. That guy is a center for the Suns; if you want proof, google the opening tip against the Celtics.

Locure had 21 tonight in a close loss to WDM Valley. He is really a good, quick top-shooting guard. About Bohannon's height, but twice as quick. A good prospect to keep an eye on. Seemed to be North's leader on the court. Definitely a future D1 prospect. If he played in Chicago, he'd be higher rated. Looks better than Williams or Dailey probably were at age 15. I watched Tyler Ulis in high school play in Dubuque and I think Locure is about two inches taller.

Locure has talent, but didn't necessarily give the greatest effort, especially on defense. Like you said, he seems to have the tools to play D1. Great handles, good body control driving to the bucket, and decent outside shot. Not sure I am sold Iowa should offer at this point, although I've only seen him play in the one game tonight.

I completely agree. Starting to play like he knows hes the most talented on the court and hes only a soph. Its gonna get worse.

People keep wanting a lightning quick guard with great vision. I think Locure has those abilities. Depending on possible attitude issues that other posters have raised (I don't know the kid or anything about that), I think he is a legit D1 prospect.

As long as it doesn't get him in trouble, on or off the court, a little fire is a good thing. Iowa fans have been complaining about the players not having a little attitude the past few years (not this year). It sounds like he's just what Iowa needs.
