Tyrone Tracy Jr.

If Tracy, ISM and Brandon Smith can make some chain moving receptions every game, The TEs will be open and maybe Mr. (David) Bell will see Iowa in a new light.

I know people say Purdue and tOSU are leading for Bell but Jeff Brohm may be changing his home address as he is favor for Louisville should Petrino get fired. Purdue is looking like a 7-5 regular season team. Hopefully, Iowa has payback on its mind that week.

If Bell is going to wait till football season gets in full swing, and our offense comes along like it has the potential, Young Mr. Bell may well see that Iowa is a better home then Purdue, especially if Brohm is on other Power 5 schools watch list. And tOSU, all there receivers are as good as Bell, so co tuld come here and be an immediate impact player as opposed to possible having to watch a year or two.

Also read on a Purdue forum that Bell is visiting Purdue when we play them...gotta show up n show off

One of the only true freshman to make a splash in recent memory is Dominique Douglas: 49 catches / 654 Yards / 2 TD

If we could get something even close to that = HUGE
that would be effin YUGE! We can't get a receiver in any year to get that kind of yardage right now.

Really excited for this young man. WR coach Copeland said he’s the best true freshman he’s ever been around(or something along those lines). Get the playmakers on the field. Go Hawks!!
Isn't noah a large wide-out?

Idk??he compares himself to Odell Beckham not Steve Largent. And I loved Steve Largent. The times have changed, ,hopefully KF will........

He said something like he needs to focus on school and not social media. Blah blah same old story.

No I'm talking when ihmir was the incoming freshman I thought he said he's like the fastest WR he's coached or something like that

Copeland may have said something like this during camp prior to 2017. I believe what he said about Tracy indicated he was Mature (physically and mentally) and more polished beyond any other true freshman he has seen.
Willies seems like he may have just jumped the fence at the troll farm.

Guys Copeland resume isn’t that extensive where he has been around a lot of top flight freshman wrs... the ones he is getting at Iowa will be the most gifted he has seen.. last year he praised both smith and ism as incoming freshman.. I’m sure he said something about Tracy this year aswell

Mature = Ready to Play and Contribute in CoachSpeak.

In other words — watch out...we may be looking at the B1G Freshman of the Year.

It makes me sick thinking about him. What a waste of talent. He could have set receiving records at Iowa that would have stood for a long, long time. I hope wherever he is, he's got things figured out.

Way to bring the thread down. You’re a real Munson.

Why would Oetrino get fired? Hell, why would he even be on a Luke warm seat? Are these your rumors?

The part people are looking for ....

Of all the incoming true freshmen, I’m most interested to see Indianapolis wide receiver Tyrone Tracy Jr. On our radio show in June, receivers coach Kelton Copeland called Tracy (who wears No. 3) “one of the more complete” high school players he’s ever seen. “He’s just electric with the ball in his hands,” he added.

What's particularly nice is that I genuinely think that guys like Cooper and Ragaini have a nice shot of being contributors too. Thus, when you also consider that we have Smith, ISM, and Tracy ... it would appear that the future of our WR corps is in pretty decent hands (pun intended). Even Lockett, who might be a little more on the raw side, is a big-play waiting to happen ... so he could develop into an excellent player for us too.

What excites me is Ferentz's comments about our passing game heading into 2018 ... essentially saying that our passing game ought to look night-and-day difference compared to how it looked in '17.

Folks have to remember that in '17 we were implementing an all-new O, breaking in an all-new QB (who was learning the all-new O), and this was all with us returning only 1 WR on the depth chart, who returned any D1 receptions. On top of that, I don't think that many of us truly knew what we had at TE ... especially considering that we were going to be starting a TR SO (Fant) and a RS FR (Hockenson) at the position.

On top of all the above considerations, I'm not certain that Iowa fans truly appreciate the trial-by-fire that Stanley went through last season ... and how well he played, all things considered. The quality of defenses that the Hawks played against last season was outstanding ... and, to make matters more difficult for Stanley, those defenses featured quite a diversity of schemes and looks. That's awfully difficult for an all new starter to take in. To throw yet another curve-ball at Stanley, he had to contend with having a juggled offensive-line around him - trying to protect him from the said defenses!

Lastly, Iowa's offensive coaching staff was pretty much all-new last season (as it relates to working together as a cohesive whole). Now Kirk, Brian, Ken, Kelton, and Tim have all worked together for a whole year ... so I'd assume that the comfort level between the coaches has continued to improve and grow. Furthermore, the addition of Derrick has been great because he continues to infuse a great energy to the staff ... but it also has enabled Brian to work a little more within his "wheel-house" ... with him working with the TEs and FBs on our O.

When you put all of these considerations together, I'm increasingly seeing why Kirk might be so optimistic about Stanley and our O. With Stanley now being more capable of taking the keys to the car and running with them ... that will likely open up more opportunities for skill-players who are playmakers for us. With the game slowing down for him - he'll be more apt to see opportunities early - and then get the ball to guys like Tracy ... so that they're more capable of making plays for us.

Why would Oetrino get fired? Hell, why would he even be on a Luke warm seat? Are these your rumors?

Petrino is facing a new AD and pressures from fans and adminstration to stay "clean". Not Petrino's forte. Louisville went from being solely a basketball school to a multiple sports programs with dimensions. The university's move to ACC helped it move up the chain of sports market campuses for recruiting and prestige. Louisville has invested new monies in its sports facilities and has some big time donors (ex - Papa John). Louisville wants to a be annual top 25 and bowl contender. Petrino's second tenure at Louisville after having Charlie Strong increase the program's status has been less than stellar. Now that Lamar Jackson is gone, Petrino will be under a microscope. Louisville's move to the ACC from Big East brought in stiffer conference competition and new challenges.

This, and Jeff Brohm's name is very hot. Louisville is home. Just like Scott Frost and Nebby. Brohm just cannot win big at Purdue like at Louisville.

Just to clarify...Kopeland made that comment based on his High school performance....not based on his practices so far at Iowa, correct? Kirk made the comment that he doesn't really expect freshmen to be in the mix at WR this year....

Like the optimism for young receivers. I will point out that Nick Easley, a senior and the pride of Newton, Iowa, returns in 2018. He led all Iowa receivers with 51 receptions last season. I saw the games, he's pretty good.
