Tyrone Tracy

He is a RB with WR skills, which fits nicely in the pro game. Our inept offensive staff thought he was an outside receiver for a full season and a half. He should have been used as a slot receiver or RB and we should have been getting him the ball in space more via screens or handing it to him.

Hasn't been hammered like most RBs during their college career. Good hands out of the backfield as well.

Not saying he'll be an RB too, but Wetjen will take the same route as Tracy and Jones next year if we don't get him involved in the offense the last part of the season!

I can’t imagine why that kid would stay at Iowa. Dude can fly, and Iowa hardly attempts to get him the ball. I’d bet my left nut it because his blocking is not up to Kirk’s standard.

It was because he wasn't a receiver. They wanted to move him to RB. He didn't want to move so transferred to Purdue to play WR. Purdue moved him to RB his Sr when he had no more options.

Same deal as AJ Derby moving to TE at Arkansas his senior year. He left Iowa because he wanted to play QB and they wanted him at TE.

The staff was right in both occasions.

KF forced AJ to play D after his drunk bus incident.

Staff wanted him at RB while he was here. He is the one that wanted to play WR. He wanted WR even at Purdue but they eventually convinced him to try RB. Or thats my understanding anyway.

Not everything is our coaching staff's fault all the time.

Both things are true

And Goodson is playing for Colts now.
I was just thinking about the Holiday bowl vs USC, so much NFL talent on both sides! Although it’s easy for us to say that coaches missed on Tracy, we did have some depth at RB and they still had him starting at Slot. They completely clipped his wings when they put him in the doghouse for dropping balls… never was the same for us again.

Tyler Goodson
Mekhi Sargent
Toren Young
Ivory Kelly-Martin

To name a few

In his first years with Iowa he had two or maybe three long catches, 2 for sure TDs, running deep down and in post type patterns. At that point I thought he was going to be a top receiver but then it seemed he didnt want to go over the middle that much and maybe he was hung out to dry by our QBs a few times. Tracy would have to be asked this but he is a good running back who can catch the ball
