What are the ugliest Iowa wins? I can only think of a couple.

6-4 over Penn State: 2004
7-3 over SD State: 2022 (remember they did not score a touchdown).
17-16 over Northern Iowa: 2009 (needed two blocked field goals at the end to win).

Why. are .low scoring games almost always considered the ugly ones?

They don't have to be. Those are just the ones that come to mind. However, "ugly" games, for me, generally mean that the team is not in synch and that can pretty much only happen to the offense and still have the team come out with a win. If the defense keeps screwing things up then that means the other team is going to put up a lot of points so if we win, that means the offense is really on fire and is executing plays well.
