"SEC’s latest COVID troubles
Saban and Byrne mark just the latest in the SEC to test positive for the coronavirus in recent days.

"Florida’s upcoming game against LSU on Saturday was postponed after an outbreak among Florida players and coaches. The program paused all activities on Tuesday, days after coach Dan Mullen doubled down on his desire to pack their stadium completely full for the game despite the pandemic — something he finally apologized for on Wednesday.

"Vanderbilt’s game with Missouri was also rescheduled on Monday after Vanderbilt wouldn’t be able to meet the player availability minimum after an outbreak there.

"Baylor is also dealing with a major outbreak in the Big 12, and reported 28 active coronavirus cases on its team on Monday. The Bears paused all activities last week, which resulted in the postponement of their game against Oklahoma State on Saturday."

Almost half the country is setting daily records now for COVID-19 cases.

Strangely enough, the 7 day average of deaths is the lowest since July12!!! 685 in the whole country. And in the last month the number of cases has climbed steadily from 34000 to 52000.

Too bad. Makes you wonder how many championships he would have won if not for his untimely death?

You could see through the masks they were wearing. You could tell they were going through the motions.

For Aristotle:
"It's better to have tried and failed than to live life wondering what would've happened if I had tried." - Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Football will have its ups and downs this year dealing with Covid, but in the end there will have been a season and the world will keep turning. This idiocy that has taken hold of the country...that we should hide and surrender our lives and livelihoods to this virus...is a sickness of the soul. It is the absence of courage and common sense wrapped up in an ugly ball of partisanship and confirmation bias. The call to shut everything down is not borne of science, but rather, it reflects the unwillingness of many to accept that all aspects of our lives carry risk.

Its ironic that those who most need to wake up are those who claim to be "woke".

If the hospitals are overrun, that will no longer be the case. The improved death rate is two fold. One, healthcare workers have learned quite a bit about how to treat Covid patients. Two, social distancing has kept an overload of patients from flooding the hospitals which allow our healthcare workers to give good treatment.

why are we pretending these guys are infected zombies??... they don't even know they got it until they get tested for it !

something ain't right
Ct40 testing when anything above ct25 is not actively ‘sick’. The scam casedemic portion of this pandemic. Media drills it daily for hysteria, public learning quickly though. Its deaths and hospitalizations not cases that matter. C40 is bogus.

Why "uh-oh"? Somewhere in the general ballpark of 10% of Americans have been infected with COVID. From all indications, far less than 10% of college athletes or coaches have been infected by COVID.

Maybe the "uh-oh" was meant for the vast majority of the American population who apparently put themselves at greater risk by not being a college football player or coach?

Ah yes the “caseDemic” it’s so hard to keep all these crazy right wing outrage theories straight.
First the “plandemic” was the made up talking point, then casedemic, then there was the China flu, etc.

just so hard to keep all the made up talking points straight...

"Read it and weep"? Are you really getting off on this?

Weird.

About the only thing you've accomplished is kicking up more political banter on the football board.

Make SOME attempt to educate yourself and the scientific basis of a 40 cycle threshold pcr test and its relationship to identifying presumed ‘sick’ people. Even the nyt admits up to 90% are false positives. Just try today, you can do it!

I am protecting myself as much as possible from this virus, but I also know we need to keep moving on with our lives. It is somewhere in the middle people. Take precautions but keep living. It is not hard. But keep on doing what Fox or CNN tell you to do I guess. Follow guidelines to the best of your ability. Respect others by doing them. IT IS NOT HARD.

No I get it....but CT values can be completely unreliable too. If I take two tests today with two different swabs, or are processed on different machines my CT values could be different.

it’s not some silver bullet revelation just like: regeneron, or remdisivir or hydroxycholoroquine or whatever the president is touting today....

10% is someone's thought, we're at about 2.5% positive cases

Hope he has is affairs in order and has his casket picked out.

underscore, aristotle and the gang will be busy toppling Dan Gable statues this weekend.

They had to be seething last night: Award from Orange Man and Dan was not wearing a mask.

For what it is worth, I attended a Trump rally in Iowa in October 2016 and Gable was there and Trump acknowledged his presence then.

Oh they want all the schools shut down. We just had it come through our house not long ago and I am sure it probably came home from school and that is what we expected would happen. None of the kids had any kind of real symptoms so we don't know for sure. We never go to restaurants or anywhere like that and when we do go to stores we put the masks on. The kids have to wear masks at school, so we did everything by the moral police standards and we still got it.

How come Trump didn't die? The press was stating just weeks before he was having mini strokes and he eats McDonalds food frequently. He should be dead from covid, right?

One word best describes poster...PATHETIC!! Stay in your basement, don’t come out, and keep drinking the KoolAid. Hey, about an H1N1 update?

10% is someone's thought, we're at about 2.5% positive cases

2.5% isn't a thought. It's the hallucination of a hollow melon who doesn't know the difference between infections (everybody infected) and confirmed cases (positive tests).

They want another shut down.

I don't want another shutdown. I want the SEC to live with their decisions and play the games, with whatever players they can use. If it means you're putting in a 3rd string linebacker at QB, or a bunch of walk-ons and defensive linemen for your o-line, so be it.

They wanted football, fast - covid be damned. They therefore should get it. So, no postponing and rescheduling. You show up and play with what you got left or forfeit the game.

Life is a learning process...and many of these lessons hit hard.

The Big 10 is probably destined to have the same problems after a few weeks of the season.

Those who keep calling for opening everything, do not understand that such action would overwhelm our healthcare systems AND shut everything down again. This is because people do not want to get sick, die or kill others through their negligence. People will stay home on their own once it gets bad enough again.
