They'll play their asses off next week. Seemingly always do.
They are on meltdown. But it's not like that hasn't happened before. Didn't they lose to UNI a few years ago
Maybe isu should make someone other than UNI their Super Bowl.

Iowa will sit back in their usual defense, not blitz, and let ISU dink and dunk, building confidence until their OL looks good and their QB looks like Peyton Manning. I hope this year is different and we destroy them from the get go.

This is likely the early plan. Until Mabin can get his shit together, he's going to need to have safety help the entire game. The biggest difference might be the ISU OL is horrible so we might have a better pass rush to help the secondary.
The other X factor is Iowa should rush for 300+ yard next week which will minimize ISU possessions.
I just want to remind everyone that we are 2 seasons removed from losing to ISU (2 times in a row in Iowa City) as part of their 2 win season and possibly only power 5 win that year. That was as shocking of a loss as it gets so nothing should be taken for granted.

Agree. Teams usually improve between weeks 1 & 2. They will arrive at Kinnick with a different mind set.
In Mabin's defense the safeties never helped him over the top in zone coverage plays. Snyder got lit up big time on at least 2 big plays including the corner TD grab in the 2nd qtr I believe.
I think we will be significantly better with Jewell, but as we knew before the season we need consistant QB pressure and it's just not there. Our run defense leaked like a sieve.

The Clones ran (12) guys out there on their kickoff team....I am 45 years old and watched a hell of alot of football and don't recall seeing that happen before..........wow
Of the entire Ferentz era I think Iowa showed up once with their act entirely together and demolished the 'clones in Ames. During the time when arnaud was their QB.
