57-52 over Wichita State in OT. Love the Panthers. Those kids are competitors. Would Washpun (Cedar Rapids) and Morgan (Coralville) look good in black and gold?

Lohous, Bohannan...right on down the line. Those kids don't know how to quit. And yet they hit a long bump in the road themselves at midseason. But now they've won 10 of 11 and are a win tomorrow from another NCAA tournament berth.

Great job, Northern Iowa. The Panthers got down 10-0 and fought all the way back. Now finish it off tomorrow.

And if the Hawkeyes wanna know how to finish games, watch UNI.

Wow! I hope your day goes better, Hawks788. And yes, if you had seen the game, you'd understand that the exclamation is an understatment, if anything. If the Hawkeyes had half the guts UNI has, they would have won the Big Ten title.

Mostly kids from IOWA on that UNI team...kids deemed unworthy of playing in Iowa City. So I will love following UNI into the NCAA tournament again this year.

Also, screw UNI, and I hope they lose.

Why? Maybe 1 in 25 in-state recruits would choose to play for UNI if they had offers from both UNI and Iowa. ISU is who the Hawks will have to compete with for the best in-state guys and ISU hasn't recruited in-state in recent years the same way Iowa has.

Comparing Jacobsen to a douche when iowa has Fran?

Too many incidents to even list on Fran's card.
I don't think Fran has had an "incident" in about 3 years now. He's way more tame now than when he was building up the program.

Wow! Some folks are in a bad mood today. I feel sorry for people who can't appreciate the accomplishments of others. Personally, I've seen UNI quite a few times, and win or lose, those kids never quit. Can't say the same for the Hawkeyes. And, frankly, I can't name ONE Hawkeye starter I would take over any of the UNI starters. Not one.

Envy and jealousy aren't very becoming. So like I said, most of UNI's players were born and raised in Iowa, and they're on a helluva run right now. They beat a team today that the present group of Hawkeyes would not have been able to handle. Sure, Iowa beat Wichita eons ago when the Shockers were short-handed.

Oh, and you UNI haters, don't forget this: UNI beat then #1 UNC, beat then #5 Iowa State (which, of course, beat Iowa), and beat Wichita on their home court, breaking the nation's longest home winning streak at 43 games. So if it makes you feel better about the Hawkeyes' collapse to belittle the hard-nosed, gutty, and talented IOWA kids who represent UNI, so be it. You have my condolences.

Hawks 788 obviously is not the brightest bulb under the tree.

I root for UNI just as much as I do Iowa. In general, the UNI fans are great.

The guy who is a class A jerk is Farley. That I know. Not sure about Jacobsen. I am sure you can find a few people that feel the same way about Fran.

The success UNI has on a pretty consistent basic is pretty remarkable.

I still remember that win over Kansas.

The team I will and can never root for? Iowa State.

I still remember the win over Missouri. Hope Panthers win tomorrow. Just not as much as I want the Hawks to win tonight.

Is an exclamation point really needed?

That's not exactly one of the great upsets in basketball history. A 20-12 team just beat a 24-8 squad that likely won't make the tournament now.

Also, screw UNI, and I hope they lose.

According to Lunardi about 5 minutes ago, the Shockers are in. The MVC Champ will be a 'bid thief'. This hurts Michigan as they were his last team in.

An OT game with 57 points scored by the winner does not strike me as never say die, outstanding basketball. For all of Iowa's faults we beat WSU by something like 25 points. Yes no VanVleet that game but he does not account entirely for a margin like that.

Really good for UNI and glad for them but the truth is the quality of the MVC is really hurting after losing Creighton.

My.my can't you cheer for UNI without knocking Iowa? I guess three Hawkeye starters from Iowa aren't good enough for you( as well as a sub walk-on). I applaud UNI, but it is true that the MVC had some bad teams this year. WSU was not one of them, but even they were not the WSU of the last few years. Take your negativity to some other board.

Like cheering for UNI when they aren't playing Iowa. Like watching Iowa kids succeed in any sport on any level.

Be cool to see all 3 Iowa teams in the Big Dance, then Uni and Iowa to the sweet 16 with Iowa St. losing to a 11 seed on a buzzer beater.

^^^ This, except the last paragraph. I root for ISU except when they're playing IA, UNI, or Drake.

I think people, including myself, would appreciate posts lauding UNI more if they were not accompanied by such excessive dissing of Iowa players. Envy and jealousy aren't very becoming? Neither is your self-important preening.

Any time a team from Iowa gets in any tournament and has success, it helps the recognition of our state as a good place to attend school. National news on ESPN and other stations around the country can only help recruiting in all our sports. I hope UNI wins tomorrow and gets to the Big Dance.

I am an oldtimer, born and raised in Iowa, and still root for UNI and Iowa St when they are not playing the Hawks. I do think the message boards make it more difficult to do this, when you often see some of the idiotic and inflammatory posts from opposing fans.

I don't think this makes me any less of a Hawkeye fan.

Always figured you for a troll, now at least we know from what team.

I actually enjoy watching UNI and wish them luck. You, on the other hand, I probably wouldn't notice if you went away.

I like when UNI does well except having to deal with a portion of their fans. They are insufferable. Now if you live in the Cedar Valley it really comes up. Saying you are a Hawk fan first but like UNI is the same as saying you hate UNI to them.

Man what a stupid post. No one cares about UNI. Except for you. You have my condolences.

Someone did a story about the economic benefits of Nick Saban's tenure at Alabama given his huge salary. Out of state enrollment has gone way up since Alabama started winning championships, resulting in higher tuition paid.
And, if you please, it is not necessary to choose that word when you don't agree with what someone has said.

You've been Da Coached.
