UNI

Pretty sure Washpun could spell stupider, but ya never know. He did get a free education and played in 4 NCAA tournament games. That's a pretty good stat to have.

If Iowa had Wes they might not have faded down the stretch this year. He made a poor decision at the end of regulation. But he's a major reason UNI they went 13-2 down the stretch.

is it possible there is a more srtupid point guard the Washpun

Have you seen Gesell play this year? Clemmons plays point and fouled someone shooting a last second three pointer up by three. I'd take Washpun over Gesell.

To be 100% clear because I am not a basketball rules expert, there is no more 10 second backcourt violation, right, as well as no 5 second count in the backcourt, so he could have just held the ball there until time ran out and the game would have been over, correct?

There is still a 10 second backcourt violation. That hasn't changed. There is also still a 5 second count when not dribbling the ball with the defender close to you but I don't know if that applies to the backcourt. Can the ref count a 10 second violation and a 5 second violation at the same time?

I don't believe there is a 5 second count in the back court anymore. He could have held it longer if he wanted. Most kids probably never think of that and it was easy for me to yell at the time but all he had to do was chuck the ball as high and far as he could and it is over. Anything but what he did.

Hindsight is 20/20 in that situation. If I am Wes I know you don't want to turn it over, but I just take the 10 count. If he throws it deep he runs the risk of getting it tipped and a player catching for a 3pointer. Ya just never know. Sucks for those guys, they had the game won similar to Iowa and lost it. The fouls were suspect, but you can't put yourself in that situation. Jermey Morgan missed 2 critical foul shots down the stretch as well. Tough break. They were fun to watch.

If UNI would have offered Wes for Mike and Clemmons I would have taken that in a heart beat.

I believe the rule is that the ball must be touched in the front court within 10 seconds. If he had chucked it and it had not been touched the Aggies would have gotten the ball with 1.8 on the clock. It still would have been better than what occurred.

If Iowa lost like they, would would get BLASTED by the media. The media is making this collapse UNI had a puff piece. No mention about how poorly coached they were at the end, blaming refs. They choked, they were out coached, out played and the way they played at the end for a team that supposed to be "so well coached" is unnacapptable.

He was slowly being forced out of bounds and he knew there was no call coming. He should have thrown it backwards over his head, as high as he could and it's over.

Hindsight is hindsight, and we can all dissect these plays later of what should have and what not. It's crazy though because A&M really didn't have to do anything since UNI inbounded the ball right under the basket for a lay up 3 times maybe 4. If they just inbound it, and chuck it 3 or 4 times they win, it's that crazy, and that bad of luck. A&M literally had 0 time to miss 1 shot.

Also, yes, if it was a bigger program the would have gotten a ton of flack, but UNI wasn't suppose to win, even though I believe they were the better team. If you saw the post game presser, I'm not sure how you can root against those guys.
