If you go to IMDb and click on one of the trailers at the top, you'll be shown lots of trailers of new shows. Some look quite good. And some that look good aren't even on HBO or other premium channels.

Why do they call them "trailers" when they aren't trailing anything?

The origination of "trailers" came about when people back in the day would sneak onto the movie lots where the shoots were happening and steal bits of the film from the editing trailer. These would be released before the movie was officially done.*

* I have no idea if this is true, made the whole thing up:D

The term trailer originated back in the days when they used to show them after the feature presentation finished. They started showing them at the beginning of the movie after they realized people were leaving without watching them.

If you get the AXS Network they have the Nothing But Trailers show that we record several times a week. (You may go several episodes without seeing a new trailer.)
Looking forward to The Martian and possibly Bridge of Spies.
