The Loop is a great Hawkeye bar, but good luck getting in if you're not there an hour before game time. It gets packed.

My bad. Didn’t realize there was a thread.
no worries; i had to do a search to find it!

If i were you, i would not buy tickets until either the Hawkeye Huddle (they make announcements about extra tickets available) or scalp outside the stadium

If the gophers are as bad as expected, you could get decent tickets for $10 each

If you wanted to tailgate, a great option is at the State Fair grounds; I believe the cost is $10/vehicle. There is a shuttle that runs every 10-15 minutes to AND from the stadium

lots of times people get a hotel near the Mall of America and then take the train to the Hawkeye Huddle; as stated in the orig post, the stadium is a short walk from there;

the BLUE LINE train runs from the Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis; the GREEN LINE train runs from downtown St Paul to downtown Minneapolis; if you start near the Mall of America, I think once you enter downtown Minneapolis you have to get off the blue line and transfer to the green line, which then drops you off right outside the stadium; for more info on the blue line and green line, go here: https://www.minneapolis.org/map-transportation/light-rail-and-bus-schedule/

As you will see, you can get an All-Day Pass for the train.

How early do the fairgrounds start to fill up?

Party at Goldteam's double-wide after the game.

Follow HWY 10 north to Blain exit, go west past the crack house on the corner, then south 2 blocks, turn right at the abandoned meth lab, next left turn you'll notice a giant empty lot littered with garbage and heroin needles - park here, walk ahead about one block until you meet the crack whores - they will show you to his trailer.

Aren't the fairgrounds pretty far away from TCF Bank Stadium. When I've gone to Minnesota games I've just did my tailgating at Sally's or stub and Herb's. Yeah it's not the same but being sardined into shuttle buses after the game does not sound like a good time to me.

@StormHawk42 and @LincolnHawkeye , here's some more info.

(1) If you wanted to tailgate

A great option is at the State Fair grounds; the cost is $10/vehicle. There is a FREE shuttle that then runs every 10-15 minutes to AND from the stadium

For this 2:30 pm Game:
Tailgating at the Fairgrounds Starts: 8:30 am
Tailgating ends: 9:30 pm

FREE FAN SHUTTLES BETWEEN THE FAIRGROUNDS AND THE STADIUM

On home gamedays, free Gopher Football Shuttles bring patrons from St. Paul to TCF Bank Stadium.

  • The St. Paul Gopher Football Shuttle stops at two locations:
    • Lot S108 (St. Paul fairgrounds lot)
    • TCF Bank Stadium (East Bank)
  • The St. Paul Gopher Football Shuttle runs every 10 minutes starting 3 hours before the game and increases to 5 minute service as needed.
  • During the game, these shuttles run every 10 minutes.

  • After the game, these shuttles run continuously until the crowd is clear.

(2) Another tail gating option:

The East River Road Flats City Park

* Is along the east bank of the Mississippi River, along the edge of campus

* This a very roomy, scenic part of town, right below campus, and you just need to walk up the hill or stairs and you are about 8 blocks from the Stadium

* Approx 15 min walk to the stadium

* You can drink, grill out, etc.

(3) If you are not tailgating, Take the Train to the Game

lots of times people get a hotel near the Mall of America and then take the train to the Hawkeye Huddle (which is a couple blocks from the stadium); as stated in the orig post, the stadium is a short walk from the Hawkeye Huddle location;

(4) For more parking options

Check this site out: https://www.pts.umn.edu/park/gopherfb

(5) Available on Stub Hub (Starting at $40 plus Fees): Parking Passes only

LINK: https://www.stubhub.com/minnesota-g...ots-10-6-2018/event/103350321/?sort=price+asc

(6) Park (for FREE) & Ride the Train to the Game

If you are driving in, want a cheap/FREE place to park and then simply plan on heading to the Hawkeye Huddle or to the Stadium:

You could park in an empty, free parking lot, and walk north one block to the GREEN LINE light rail. Get on the train heading West (to Minneapolis). The train will drop you off right at the Stadium. You can scalp there, walk to the Hawkeye Huddle, etc.

At the end of this post is the address for LA Fitness, a health club. In the area is a Walmart, a Cub Foods and a Target. The light rail runs along University Ave, from downtown St Paul (to the East) to downtown Minneapolis (to the West).

***You can park with no problem in the Herberger's (no longer in business) parking lot.*** From there, simply walk to the light rail station, pay for your ticket and hop aboard!

Here is the address of the area where you can Park for FREE & Ride to TCF Stadium: 1370 University Ave W, St Paul, MN 55104

I'm Storm Hawk 42's (favorite?) uncle. One question: Do you guys ever stay home?;) Let me know when we can pick you up at DIA the weekend before that. Looking forward to having you out here in Colorado. Aspens should be in full fall splendor that weekend.

If you want to tailgate, I would recommend the Fairgrounds. maybe others have ideas where you could tailgate near the stadium (but guessing you'd have to be there really early and it isn't cheap)

The previous posts are a prime example of the challenges facing the Gophers in building a loyal fan base. In the urban setting... it's just not easy for the casual fan to get excited about Minnesota football. A good start to a season will help, but if weather/tix cost/ are not ideal... they won't build the base.

The metro setting kills the tailgating experience.

MPS/StP will always belong to the Vikings.

unfortunately there is no tail gating scene for the Vikings, either. All of the flat surface lots around US Bank Stadium are now luxury condo's and apts

thankfully this game is in Oct; the weather should still be good.

those late November games can get really cold, especially when the wind is blowing

The Gophers top rusher, Rodney Smith, is lost for the season. He suffered a knee injury very early in Saturday's victory over Fresno State.
Yooouch!. Smith is their record setting NFL-prospect workhorse. That is going to sting. Recall they also lost RB Shannon Brooks to injury before the season also. The back-up is supposed to be pretty good but very little experience.

I just looked at their athletic dept website for tickets. Holy crap! No wonder they don't get anyone to a game. 80 bucks for corner endzone seats. 210 for good seats. This isn't stubhub or scalpers-this is face value.

$80 for the iowa game? what about for other games?

i highly recommend scalping outside the stadium for this game, especially if the gophers lose a game or 2

only thing that could be tricky is that this is their homecoming game

this is why you have to have a stable of running backs, unfortunately

I’m holding out as long as I can but yeah it’s frustrating they jack the prices up just for Iowa

They know people will pay $80 for the Iowa game. It also looks like their ticket prices go down as the season/temperature goes down:

Remaining gopher home game cheap seats
Miami of Ohio $21
Iowa $80
Indiana $50
Purdue $47
NW $35

Screw that! Scalp at the Hawkeye Huddle and outside the stadium.

Ballpark how much do you think one could get into the stadium for. Never scalped TCF.
One example: in 2010, one scalper had a ton of tickets for $10 each on the 50 yard line

If I were you I would watch Stub Hub to see how prices are trending (if the Goofs start to suck, prices will start to come down on Stub Hub and they also will come down in terms of what people will be paying outside the stadium). This is not an $80/ticket type of game.

One other thing: Its their homecoming so it might change things up a bit (demand might be a little higher).

This game is just 2 weeks away!

Another tail gating option:

Prices certainly don’t seem to be dropping. I’m hoping for Maryland to beat them this weekend to see if that will depress prices. There’s no way this game should be more than $70/ticket and that’s probably too high still. StubHub is still super high at $95/ticket plus fees.

* Gopher Admin and fans who are selling are hoping/praying for an undefeated Minny team vs an undefeated Iowa team

* Since its their homecoming, the demand might be higher than normal

* What sucks about Stub Hub is that $70 price becomes a lot more after fees

Another factor is that their home games this year are:

New Mexico State
Fresno State
Miami of Ohio
Iowa
Indiana
Purdue
Northwestern

They literally have no one else to see this year

It sucks because we got a bus load of fans Iowa and Minny fans going to the game. $80/ticket upper deck. Other games you could by 3 pizzas and get two free. I wonder how much of their ticket income comes off of the Iowa game.

Before the Iowa / Wisconsin game was over, the LOWEST cost for 2 tickets on Stub Hub was $248 ($124 EACH).

The Breakdown:
$196--2 tickets at $98 each
$047--Service fees ($23.50/ticket)

$005--Fulfillment fee ($2.50/ticket)

YIKES!!!

It will be interesting to see how much prices plummet.

I still think there will be no problem scalping at either the Hawkeye Huddle or outside TCF Bank Stadium because both the Hawks and the Goofs are coming off losses. Both fan bases have to be a bit down right now, which will affect demand. Unfortunately, overall supply is limited (TCF seats just 50,000).

I just checked Stub Hub.

Prices will continue to come down.

I still think the best option is to scalp at the Hawkeye Huddle or outside TCF Stadium before the game. Even if you currently have tickets, when you see a scalper, ask him what he wants, and you will be surprised at what he wants vs what you already paid.

The LOWEST cost for 2 tickets on Stub Hub was $240 ($120 EACH).

Just 4 rows up from the field, on the 50 yd line!!!

Nevertheless, this seller is clearly delusional!!! Goofer fans are clearly trying to profit from Iowa fans.

AND IT GETS WORSE!

Crazy how the cheapest ticket the U of M is selling goes for $88 each.

If you choose "SELECT YOUR SEAT" and try to get to the cheapest tickets still available, start in Section 201 and you can get tickets for $88 each ($80 plus $8 in fees).
