UPDATE on What's Planned for IOWA at Minnesota, Fri Oct 5-Sun Oct 7. It's their Homecoming

Prices may come down, hard to say. We always had tickets in hand before going to MN in the past. Just for a change (in 2014) we thought we would try getting them from scalpers at TCF before the game. Half way through the first quarter the cheapest seats were still over $50. Golden gopher fans thought that golden also applied to what the tickets were made of. Fortunately we gave up on scalping and went to a bar to watch the game. (if you could even call it a game, arrgh) We went back to buying them from the MN website after that. Have to buy a "dog" game along with the Iowa tickets. (Miami of Ohio this year) Sold the dog game tickets on Stubhub for beer money.

How early do the fairgrounds start to fill up?

Never seen it more then 50% full. They encourage you to take up as many parking spots as possible just so the isles are clear. We had 4 vehicles last time and took up 10 spots for bags and tents. Plenty of room.
Lot opens at 8:30am for 2:30 start

Is it realistic to get in for $50. If I wait to scalp at Kick off or just after. Just need 1 ticket.

Is it realistic to get in for $50. If I wait to scalp at Kick off or just after. Just need 1 ticket.
BOTTOM LINE: I would predict that scalpers are going to be asking for a lot less than $88/ticket, which is the lowest price on the internet at the moment.

On the U of M's web site, there are tickets starting at $88 ($80 face plus $8 in fees) that nobody wants to buy.

On StubHub if you want 2 tickets, the starting price after all fees is $120/ticket. Link: https://www.stubhub.com/minnesota-g...1&ticket_id=1368890729&ticketRank=3&byo_qty=2

Supply and demand is definitely at work at the moment. Their stadium only seats 50,800. The Metrodome, their previous home, sat roughly 65,000, so the supply is definitely an issue when teams like Wisky, Iowa and Nebbie come to town.

Something has to give. Will the U of M simply distribute freebies? Will the prices come down on StubHub? Will these tickets all work their way to scalpers?

There will be tickets available at the Hawkeye Huddle and outside the stadium, that is for sure. This game is a little more tricky since its their homecoming, which also might drive up demand a bit.

But, again, BOTTOM LINE: I would predict that scalpers are going to be asking for a lot less that $88/ticket, which is the lowest price on the internet at the moment.

If you already have tickets, when you are walking to the stadium and see a scalper, ask what he is asking. I bet you are going to be surprised.

Yeah I kind of feel the same way but my wife is is worried and wants me to buy tickets now. I don't want to though. I want to roll the dice. But I might have an option of buying some current season ticket holders tickets

ah, but you're a bit of a gambler/live-on-the-edge kind of guy, which is likely one of the reasons she fell for you in the first place. Hang in there. I'm sure those of us without tix will feel like the smarter ones come game time.

Party at Goldteam's double-wide after the game.

Follow HWY 10 north to Blain exit, go west past the crack house on the corner, then south 2 blocks, turn right at the abandoned meth lab, next left turn you'll notice a giant empty lot littered with garbage and heroin needles - park here, walk ahead about one block until you meet the crack whores - they will show you to his trailer.
If You get lost follow the smell of the Goldteam grow op, It's said a huge harvest of ELITE OG Kush is drying in the back of his 60s VW van . Guarded by His toothless Cousin Zed .

I ck'd the Hawkeyesports & I-Club's websites and found no Hawkeye planned/organized events or gatherings for Friday nite; only the Saturday AM Huddle event.

Is anyone aware of any Friday evening Hawkeye fan events, time and where?

Thanks in advance, & appreciated!

The Twin Cities I-Club has an event at the 508 Bar (downtown near Target Field) again this year. It is in the lower level of 508 Bar and Restaurant, will include appetizers, a cash bar, and a DJ. The cost is $10. It runs from 5 - 8:30 pm. You pre-buy the tickets through Bravo Sports. In 2016 they had a fundraiser for Brett Greenwood there the night before the game. Was a good time.

Sunday, October 7

For Vikings fans: Unfortunately the Vikings are on the road Sunday, Oct 7 (at defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia).

Can’t believe people are actually paying $100+ per ticket for this game. Figured StubHub prices would drop off a cliff by now.

Scalp for $50/ticket or less. Don't pay the U of M or anybody else their $88 or more asking price. A lot of people are predicting an Iowa blowout victory.

Keep in mind, ticket prices are high because face value is so high. The cheapest face value ticket is $80 from the gophers website. It goes up to over $250 for face value.

Their stadium is so small, there's not going to be many empty seats for this game (as is the case every time iowa plays up there).
You might get lucky and find 1 or 2 people just ditching tickets for cheap, but don't expect to pay less than $70 for this game. There's no reason for any seller to sell for less than face value at this point in time.

Paid $80 for a Iowa/Wisky ticket with a packed house. No way these tickets go for more.

If you want to tailgate, I would recommend the Fairgrounds. maybe others have ideas where you could tailgate near the stadium (but guessing you'd have to be there really early and it isn't cheap)

THank you. I was worried about this because it's so far away. However, if this is where everyone will be, then I guess that's where we'll set up!

I think you are gonna see people everywhere, actually. See posts 1 and 10 on page 1

* The Fairgrounds: The Fairgrounds will be full of Hawk fans and that shuttle works well. It makes only one stop each way: to the stadium and back to the Fairgrounds.

* There is also a Twin Cities I Club tailgate northwest of TCF Stadium. The Hawkeye Huddle is always fun too. Both events are very close to the stadium.

Report back and let us know what you did and if it ended up being fun for everyone!

Another thing that might effect attendance is the Minnesota Wild's home opener is that night. It's not till 7 but I think it might pull some gopher fans.

And Gopher hockey opens its season playing the #1 ranked team in the country
After looking at the Wild game they're actually doing this whole hocktoberfest theme. Big party on 7th Street in St Paul from 2 to 11. I'm liking my chances of getting a reasonably priced ticket more and more.

We tailgated at the fairgrounds and took the shuttle in to the stadium. Lots of hawks were there. Had plenty to eat and drink and met some new friends. As far as getting tix goes, there were some scalpers who were high AF. I bought 2 together right after kickoff for 75 each. Happy to pay less than face, but still felt like I was swindled a bit. yuck.

Glad you had a good time. Did you hit the Hawkeye Huddle, which was just a few blocks away? The Huddle usually has folks with extras. After fees, the cheapest ticket (after fees) was $88 each, which is nuts.

Otherwise, I agree in that $75 seems way too steep, especially with all the empty seats in TCF.

TCF's capacity is 50,800. In comparison, US Bank Stadium (which replaced the Metrodome) seats 67,000 and can accommodate up to 70,000..Imagine if the Goofs still played there? That would open up 17,000 more tickets and would drive the price down.

The announced attendance was 48,199 (2,600 less of capacity), but this is total # of tickets distributed. Crazy that they could not sell this game out. Maybe they should have thrown in a couple pizzas for each ticket purchased? . Obviously, based on the # of empty seats, not everyone used those 48,199 tickets that were distributed; looks like a lot stayed home.

Yes, there were a lot of empty seats.

We paid $80 for four seats in the upper deck in a corner. That was pretty much the best we saw all day there just weren't many tickets for sale I pretty much looked from 11 am until 20 minutes before game.

I did have one guy riding around on a bike that offered me 4 tickets in the Upper Deck in the corner for 60 bucks a piece (similar to the seats we ended up with) and I didn't take it because it was so early I figured I would be able to do better than that. Turns out I should have taken the deal.

I do have to say that of all of the Iowa road games I have been to... The gopher fans were the least inviting. We didn't really have anybody rude or swear at us but they were very standoffish as a collective whole.

I've been up there the last 5 times Iowa has played there. I've had bad fans and great fans and everything in between. As a whole I always find them decent. But I also try and remember that I am still a visitor up there and don't act like a complete prick. Been to Michigan and Michigan State and also had great experiences with a few not so great experiences. when it comes to visiting other schools I always look at it you get what you give for the most part. Yeah somebody might act badly for no reason but for the most part the statement seems to be true. I also have a tendency to just laugh it off when a college student says something stupid to me.

The Gopher fans were exceptionally well behaved this weekend. Zero problems in our group.

I actually witnessed a Iowa fan in the stadium at the end being a complete jackass.

He was kind of berating an older gentleman claiming the guy had taunted him. The worst part about it is he had two young girls with him under 10 years of age and he kept looking at them and laughing every time he was mocking the old guy almost as if he was trying to show them how it's done and that he thought it was funny.

Some people are just complete effing morons
