Donald Trump is refusing to disavow his endorsement by David Duke, saying he doesn't know anything about the former Ku Klux Klan leader.

Trump was asked on CNN's "State of the Union" whether he would declare that he didn't want Duke's support, or that of other white supremacists in the presidential election.

Trump says of Duke, "I just don't know anything about him."

Trump likewise says he wouldn't condemn a group that he knows "nothing about." He adds that if he were sent a list of groups he would research them and "certainly" would disavow any if he thought there was "something wrong."

Only two days ago:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday disavowed a former Ku Klux Klan leader's support.

"I didn't even know he endorsed me," Trump said while unveiling an endorsement from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, when asked about former KKK grand wizard David Duke's support.

"David Duke endorsed me? OK, alright. I disavow, OK?" Trump said, seeking to quickly move on to another question.

On Friday he seemed to know who Duke is.... today he doesn't know who he is and needs to research it?

I've witnessed him disavowing this at some event in the past day or so. Probably the one where Christie endorsed him.

Does anyone seriously think Trump wants David Dukes support?

One other thing. Duke knows his endorsement is the kiss of death, somebody named Cruz or Rove put him up to it.

This would seem to contradict your original post.

Flip-flop is a new concept for you? And why flop in favor of Duke? His first instinct was correct. Now he needs to "research" the guy? WTF?
He realised the strength of this movement in the R base obviously. This sure is a fun election cycle.

First Duke, then Sharpton.

All the Dem racists are coming out in support of the Donald.

It's the same kind of wink wink nonsense when he says things like the Judge in the Trump University case is Hispanic, "which is fine". He knows his campaign is a home for those kind of thinkers, so he'll play dumb about it.

He is on CNN on State of the Union saying he doesn't know enough about David Duke and the KKK to condemn them.

I find it extremely hard to believe that Donald Trump has no idea who David Duke is. If he truly has no idea, then it makes his candidacy even more suspect. It's not as if Duke's prominence is on-par with being the lead vocalist of a 1980's one-hit-wonder band.

A day ago he knew enough to condemn him, today not so much. Something has changed in Trump's calculus.

roger stone, key figure in the early campaign of trump, is on alex jones show now, saying for sure trump does not know who in the heck david duke is

roger stone just spent a half hour saying trump knew not who that was, I thought he said something about trump thinking it was a plastic surgeon with the same name

or that duke had plastic surgery, or something, I dunno what's up, they just spent a half hour saying it was bullcrap by the media

CNN's article makes it clear that Trump was condemning Duke way back in 2000. Maybe Trump is going senile and forgetting things? Which would make him unqualified to be President.

I do not think Trump wants the support of Duke. What I think we saw today was Trump trying to parse something. He didn't want to directly dismiss Duke because he knows a small percentage of his supporters are racists, so he tried to talk his way through the question by saying he didn't know. Clearly he does know who Duke is and what he stands for.
This is Trump turning professional politician.

One very lucky thing for Trump is this is Oscar night. He gets a pass from most of the media today and tomorrow morning as the shows devote a lot of coverage to the Oscars.

I'll take the over on that one.

Donald Trump on Monday blamed a poor earpiece for sparking a misunderstanding over white nationalist David Duke’s support of the GOP presidential front-runner.

“I’m sitting in a house in Florida with a very bad earpiece they gave me,” he told hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s “Today" show

“I sit down and I have a lousy earpiece provided by them,” Trump continued. "You could hardly hear what [CNN anchor Jake Tapper] was saying.

“What I heard was ‘various groups.' I have no problem disavowing groups but I’d at least like to know who they are. It’d be very unfair disavowing a group if they shouldn’t be disavowed.”

Trump waved off questions about Duke during a Sunday morning appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union." He repeatedly told Tapper he is unaware of the former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard’s background and stances.

The outspoken billionaire on Monday lashed out at CNN for ignoring his multiple rejections of Duke’s support over the weekend.

“I’ve disavowed David Duke all weekend long on Facebook and Twitter, but it’s obviously never enough,” Trump said. "I disavowed David Duke the day before in a major news conference.

Trump used the same excuse before if you recall. Earlier in the campaign some crazy made a comment about Obama being a Muslim, and not an American, and expelling people, and the Donald said something like, "We're going to be looking into that". When he was hit hard for this he said he didn't hear the speaker. Well, why say what you did? Clearly he heard the question. If he didn't, then why didn't he ask Jake Tapper to repeat himself? I've seen Trump ask questioners to repeat themselves. Maybe he is hard of hearing and too vain to get a hearing aide.

Maybe Trump is finally making his move to get back into reality TV, or else he simply realized he'll be able to make much more money by continuing to buy off politicians than going in and fighting the whole system...

This thing is wildly entertaining though, this much I know.

Is that like having Sharpton endorse you?
