Looks like 1-10 are desperately trying to be relevant again. Or for the first time for one of them.

Trust me. We'll have a scholly for you even if 6 better players we've offered at your position want to commit. Of course things happen, but we've given the same kind of thought to your offer that we did to the other 350. Are you ready to sign Joe......I mean Tom. Is it Bob? It doesn't matter....... your our guy and we'll be there for you.

What is the “right” number? We can poke fun at some of the schools, but Alabama has twice what we do now. Are they desperate, having a hard time getting kids to consider them, etc?

IMO there are a very small amount of schools who can do what Alabama appears to be doing. I'm guessing it's the we offer who we think are the 3 best at each position and whoever say yes first gets it. It's not like #3 is that far behind the others. An over-simplification, but i'm guessing you know what i'm getting at.

Of course this doesn't address the "sign all 200 of them and then after tryouts we cut them" scenario.

There is no right number, of course. Every program should do what they think gives them the best chance of being successful.

In regards to Alabama, I know they do a lot of "camp offers" which means you have an "offer" but it's not committable until you come to our camp and show us you deserve one. A lot of other schools do this too where an "offer" just means interest more so than we'll actually take you as a commit right now.

It doesn’t matter who or how many athletes you offer. It’s the ones you sign (plus the quality of coaching they receive) that make your team exceptional, average, or poor.

Different coaching staffs use different methods. Big deal.

I'm sure Goldteam will tell you that having 240-some offers out at this very time is perfect, since this is where both 'Bama and the Goophers are, so it obviously is an indication of a dominant program.

Nebraska has offered 50 WRs in this class. I just checked and that is more than all of our defensive offers total combined.... What a joke.
