Position/Number Changes

Brady Ross is now wearing #36 since he has moved from linebacker to fullback

New Additions

#6 Josh Proehl - 5-foot-9, 180-pound redshirt freshman kicker from Solon, IA

#9 Jonathan Lubanza - 6-foot-1, 180-pound redshirt freshman DB from Naperville, IL

#20 Ben Canby - 6-1, 210-pound redshirt freshman punter from Mt. Pleasant, IA

No longer on the roster

#5 Omar Truitt - 5-foot-11, 185-pound sophomore DB from Fort Washington, MD

lot of attrition from a couple DB classes. Truitt and Embry from 2014 gone and Warfield and Rucker from 2013 gone. There are 3 senior CBs on this years team. Hopefully the guys (Rugamba, Billings, Boswell) they are bringing in this year pan out because they will only have Ojemudia and Jackson returning from the current roster.

Anthony Nelson, Reiff and Slater went up a lot. Actually a lot of the redshirt freshman as expected put on a lot.

Unfortunately this is something that has crushed a few past Iowa teams. Like you said hopefully the young guys will be ready to play. In the past at times this type of attrition leaves huge weak holes in Iowa's lineups.

Ryan Boyle loses 7lbs and chisels himself into a prototypical...strong safety? :)
Good to notice multiple OL are 300+.

I really hope the guys are shooting for it all this year. It can be a great year when we finally win the B1G. Last year still grates.

Nitpicky maybe, but the phrase "gets his hands on these kids" is a little misleading. To me, Doyle does a great job of showing these kids how to improve their strength, etc., but it's the kids themselves who have to commit to do the amazingly hard work it takes to improve. It's really quite a lot for a teen-ager going to class and dealing with other life realities while on scholarship.

I remember reading a quote somewhere, where someone was asked how they deal with it and the answer was great. He basically said, "Because if I didn't deal with it and work hard, I lose my opportunity to deal with it and work hard."

Simple, but a great point. Not everyone gets this chance in life. You either have the ability to do it, or you don't.

Yes, they need to commit to the program. That's part of it. But a big part is Doyle motivating these guys to commit and then having his program pay off. Why do you think guys like Chad Greenway say they wouldn't have had the career's they've had if it wasn't for Coach Doyle?

You're absolutely right, it's gotta come from within each player, or it ain't happening no matter how much Coach Doyle screams.

He does scream (occasionally), though, and it's really scary, apparently ; )
