The US will win gold anyway, but the gals on the US Olympic team were served notice last night that they're not all that. The WNBA team handled the US Olympic stars with relative ease. If those teams played a seven-game series, the WNBA team would win at least four. That group is simply better. And that's despite an exhausted Caitlin Clark failing to hit a single three-point shot, although she did hand out a rookie record 10 assists, short by one of the all-time all-star record.

So while the US Olympic team waltzes to gold over a bunch of overmatched opponents, the WNBA team can take solace in knowing they're better. And even more important, CC can FINALLY get some rest. And when the threes start dropping again when the season resumes, look out.

CC has been playing under a microscope virtually nonstop since way back last October. Every game she's played since has been to a packed house, if you don't count the Kinnick Stadium exhibition that only drew about 56,000. She's the constant target of everyone, everywhere, all the time, yet she's handled the entire fiasco with nothing but grace and humility. CC is making everyone associated with the WNBA rich and famous beyond their wildest dreams, and many hate her for it. But she keeps shrugging it off and playing ball. And despite what she's already accomplished, this league ain't seen nothin' yet.

And so the US Olympic team knows they're second best in their own country, but at least they'll always have Paris.

If the US Team brings back anything less than gold, they are a huge failure and will show the entire selection process and decisions made by those in charge to be petty and political.

If they do bring home gold, they should be required to give their medals to the WNBA All Stars, who kicked their ass last night.

Yes it is too bad they are sending a loosing team. I for one will not watch. It is a very sad situation.

New chant should be instead of "USA", the new chant should be "WE ARE LOSERS"
Too bad the USA can’t send two teams, similar to how we send more than one athlete in track & field and other events.

Would make my year to see the snubbed All Star team on the medal podium, standing just above US Olympic Team #1.

Anything less than Gold and everyone in a leadership position at USA Women's Basketball needs to be shitcanned before the team even gets back from Europe. They need to be replaced with people who will treat it like Team USA and not some Junior High social club playing popularity games. We might be sending a team that should win Gold, but we aren't even close to sending the best team we could be sending.

Weren’t you one who said she shouldn’t even play in the game?

In 2021 the WNBA team won by 8 and Arike Ogunbowale was the MVP.

Not similar at all.
Still doesn’t mean they selected the best team for the Olympics. When you pick like seven guards and six of them all play the same kind of game, only have one PG and one center, that stinks of picking based on politics, not putting together the best team. And when you’re picking based on past accomplishments and name recognition over how they’re playing now, that really shows the selection process is flawed. Tarausi, Griner and Gray have no business being on that team, and you could probably argue against a few others. More than CC got short changed on this deal.

Neat

I didn’t make any comment on anything you said above.

But good job deflecting.

Did the All-Stars get up by 20 points in 2021? The only reason this game was 8 points was because it's probably bad form to blow out your own country's national team by 30+ points on national TV right before the Olympics.

No….the WNBA team outscored the USA team by 11 over the last 7:36 to turn a 3 point deficit into a win going away.

Interestingly….7 of the 12 USA players experienced the loss both times.

5 of the WNBA players experienced the win both times.

Only Cooper changed sides, from the WNBA team to the USA team this year.

Minnesota coach (and Olypic coach) said she didn't give "two shits" about the Fever fans and their following before the Minnesota-Fever game. Bet "ol'Two Shits" wishes she hadn't said that before the Fever beat Minnesota. . Minnesota coach's demeanor was completely different following her loss. Wonder who called her, the owner, the Olympic Committee or the sponsors. Maybe all three called her and said you aren't the show, give these players some credi and be more professional. "ol'two shits" has to be the primary reason Caitlin was kept off the Olympic team. Sad

As I’ve now said multiple times, nobody got more short change than that girl from Dallas, in fact, she much more deserved to be on the team than several women, including CC.

Look at her stats - she averages 20+ shots a game and shoots a horrible field goal percentage of 35.7%. One out-her-mind game does not, in my mind, get her on my Olympic team.

DT can only play about 6-8 effective minutes a game. It's not so much about Arike needing to be on it (she should be), but it's about why players who clearly have no business being on the team are. CC, Ogunguwale, and Reese should all be on the Olympic team right now and it is laughable that they are not. Old people who are working on their 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th gold medal are taking their spots right now.

You haven’t watched her play obviously she’s had more than one out of her mind game
I just looked at every game the Wings played this years - I can't find find one. Maybe she had an out-of-her-mind game last year. I'm done looking. Her shooting percentage is bad for someone that takes as many shots as she does.

Based on this years stats, putting her on the Olympic team hoping she plays like last night is a long, long shot.

See for yourself.

Basketball is a funny game. If one player, or a team, gets “in the zone” they can be impossible to beat. Especially if the other team is not really taking them seriously.

I think in a seven game series the Olympic team would win 4 or 5 games. If they were playing seriously.

Just my opinion. Ogunbale was totally “in the zone”. Probably wouldn’t be in every game. Great game.
