Posted on the Intermat today (Link). Many may have already read this posting but thought this information should be noted on this board. Many here served their country in the United States armed forces, and many are former high school/college wrestlers. We are all deeply saddened by the events of this past week. God Bless, we knew you.

Do not be afraid, I have called your name, you are mine. (Book of Isaiah).

RIP marine.. but you can spare that other shit. Soldier died, keep the rest to yourself . FWIW- I respect the hell out of you as a poster. But this is a sad day for all.
Why should he spare the other shit? Boomhawk is 100% correct in everything he said.
"Soldier died, keep it to yourself, " is a very callous thing to say. Why should we keep our anger and grief buried?
The deaths of nearly 200 people could have and SHOULD HAVE been avoided.

All signs point to this young man being an exceptional human and eventually becoming a helluva wrestling coach that could have and should have inspired the next generation in the sport we love.

So **** your feelings if you can't handle the political baggage that comes with this horrendous attack because politics and this event are not mutually exclusive.

Oh I can handle it. But this is a wrestling board. It’s hard enough to keep most conversations on topic.

Politics and this event may not be mutually exclusive, but the same could be said about the previous 2,500 soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Shall we debate the "incompetence" behind those deaths as well? The point is, we can mourn and honor the service of our soldiers without inserting our views on whether a tragedy is a result of incompetence, and by whom. Time and place for every debate I guess, but for now.......
RIP soldiers, and thanks to all who have served and sacrificed, regardless of whether I agreed with the war/decisions or not.

The thing is you can never say anything that might impugn or illustrate the faults of a certain political party or members of that party. Don't you understand the rules of conversation? Only a certain party can be degraded.

As for the attack - yeah it sucks. The people in Afghanistan are in a world of hurt and my heart goes out to them for the fear and brutality they have to live with on a daily basis.

Should we have been there in the first place? Who knows? Probably not. Should we have stayed as long as we did? Who knows? Probably not. Should the withdrawal been planned better and handled better? I think we all know. Definitely yes.

My son, daughter-in-Law and their 1/2-year-old had been missionaries in Afghanistan for the last 4 years, They were part of a group that got out on the 18th and was able to be on our shores once again on the 20th.
Serious question, why did they stay so long when the State Dept has been telling American citizens to leave the country since April?
