Uthoff - getting no respect

Kyle Wiltjer Preseason Player of the Year??? Great shooter, but that is about it. Wiltjer is an awful defensive player, because he has no quickness.

I don't think his defense mattered much when sunk all those 3balls and Gonzaga blew us out in 1st half. Uthoff was a very good player last year, but Wiltjer looked fantastic vs Iowa.

1) Pretty much just this site/board.
2) When people post stupid stuff they deserve to get called out on it. No participation trophies here.
3) What rule did I break? Or are you just sensitive?

You're calling out a guy for giving an opinion that isn't ridiculous in the least bit. I personally thought Curry should be MVP, then James, then Harden, then Davis, but I would not disagree with you if you said Harden. It was that close. I'm guessing you haven't watched the NBA in awhile. Why don't you try arguing against someone's opinion if you disagree? It sounds like you have a lot to say.

We weren't talking about whether the Zags kicked our butts. We were discussing whether Wiltjer should be the preseason player of the year. I guess you only watch players shoot, and Wiltjer might be the best shooter in college BB. There are some other things that players can/should do, like play defense. Wiltjer is awful on defense, mostly because he is slow.

Yeah, Layman to me is a puss. He's so soft as a player. Uthoff played much more physical. I didn't see Layman do anything in the big games I watched. Jarrod was a clutch performer and is going to shine as the go to guy where Layman is just a complimentary player.

I read over the list 3 times because I was sure there was no way Uthoff was below Layman. I was fully expecting him to be around 50 on the list

Norlander said that he had Uthoff just missing his list. But then in the write up for rankings of all 351 or whatever teams, has Uthoff as "Jarrod Uthoff a dark horse for being a top-10 Big Ten player candidate." He listed 12 (quick count) Big Ten players on his 101 list but Jarrod wasnt one of them

Not saying that Uthoff didn't play well last year as he was a 3rd Team All Big 10 for a reason. Those at CBS just don't apparently think he's at the Niang, Morris or McKay level.

Uthoff has played at the same level as Niang, Morris and McKay? I think you should go to YouTube and watch some of last year's games for comparison.

Also Dickie V has Uthoff on 5th team, so that puts him in top 25. CBS does not do its homework.

I think the CBS guys said they had him at like 104 or something. With well over 4,000 college players, that is still a pretty nice compliment.
It's the end of year ratings that matter. When Jarrod is first-team all B1G and the Hawks finish in the top 20 and make it to the elite 8, we can all be happy:)

ya preseason rankings are meaningless....but CBS having Uthoff out of the top 100 is stupid BS. So 3rd Team All-B1G last year didn't mean anything? .... and oh that was the end of the year. Thats' the only point with this preseason CBS player ranking .... end of the year matters...this ranking article doesn't.

Top 15 in the B1G last year has more meaning...that is a real compliment.
This year,,,well maybe even better

So Uthoff is a "dark horse for being a top-10 Big Ten player candidate" implying he is outside the top 10, but getting close. Twelve big ten players are on the list, meaning the 13th didn't make it. That means to me that Uthoff is somewhere between 13th and perhaps 25th in the Big Ten. That is exactly when being a "dark horse" is and Norlander explained himself clearly. I think Norlander is wrong and Uthoff belongs on the list, but the explanation given is perfectly logical based on his opinion.

I understand what dark horse means, and I understand he explained himself, I just think he is wrong. Plus, Koenig ahead of him is a joke. Amazing what a tourney run does for peoples memories and opinions.

Preseason rankings ... in anything mean di&^ ... Most of these "experts" with a keyboard know less than any of us ... They simply go with the popular picks. Most of them probably have no clue Uthoff even exists.

I think Uthoff has a chance to be BPOY but to discount Koenig is folly. He was PG on National Runner up and averaged 12ppg after Jackson went down on a team where he had to feed other people first. Not exactly chopped liver and certainly not a "joke." Kid can play, Ullis had trouble guarding him.
