Blair has stated the kid will not be in attendance this weekend. Does anyone have any insight on where we stand with him? Have the Hawks backed off or have other programs become a higher priority with him. Thanks

He likes Iowa BUT, sees the depth chart. Iowa would be a team he'd have to make, while others he could start will little issue.

I watched him play at USD. In my opinion, AVG would be able to compete for a spot on the Iowa depth chart immediately. I wouldn't say that he would jump either of the current starters but he has unique skills - he is very quick and ridiculously fast for his size. To me, AVG is a hybrid DE/LB type player that Parker could move around on defense depending upon the situation so he has added value over other DE players.

Agree totally. Right away he is a 3rd down and radar defensive end. Specials teams freak. If he puts on 15-20 lbs he's our best defensive end.

Wisconsin just offered last night.

He visited Alabama a week ago. No offer there yet, but showing interest.

Wtf are we waiting for?

Were you the guy a month ago that said if Iowa would just get off their ass and offer this kid would be a hawk? I know I read it here that our staff was going to miss on this one and he wants to be a Hawk badly. Turned out to be some bad information posted here. Who saw that coming?

Wasn't me. I didn't know he already held an offer.

Because he is a JUCO player I am sure the recruiting is different as far as rules are concerned, or at least I would assume. Are JUCO's even allowed to do unofficials such as tailgaters? His recruitment might be completely different. If he wants to come to Iowa he will be a Hawkeye, I have a feeling that some of our DE's will be moving to DT possibly so another DE would be good.

With all due respect (and not trying to sound like an a-hole, but this bugs me) no one uses the term "Radar" to describe that defense anymore. The Iowa staff uses the term "Raider", and there are multiple other variations used by different teams. I don't care what it was called in the 1970's, the Iowa staff calls it RAIDER so that is what it is.

If Coach Fran decides to call his zone defense next year "Zoan", would we be wrong for calling it what everyone else calls it, or could we call it either. The football term for the front seven to all be standing and is called "radar". It was called it in the 70's, 80's and today. Just like the "Zone" defense in basketball. I think we all know if we hear "Radar" or "Raider" what it is. I personally think Mr. Jules Yakapovich would be rolling in his grave if they called his defense something different. I will choose to continue to call it "Radar", because that's what it is.

Of course you can choose to be incorrect. My only concern about our use of the raider package is that I would like to see more pressure on the quarterback out of it.

Then you aren't talking about Iowa's defense set
