Vandeberg is by far the best receiver in the stadium

Lazard is a punk but a great receiver considering he has no QB to speak of. Saying VandeBerg is "by far" the best is ridiculous homerism.

I saw a quote from one of our DBs last year (can't remember if it was King or Maybin). Anyway, they were asked who was the best WR they played last year and they said Lazard. Remember, he was a big time recruit. If he wasn't an ISU legacy recruit he would be playing at a big time school right now. I think you have to respect his loyalty in staying home even though he had to know there was a decent chance the team would be bad his whole career there.

But back to Vandeberg, he's underrated. Even I didn't know he could make some of the catches he has this game.

I said aloud "welcome to the BIG10 Lazard" approaching the end of the 3rd quarter. 2 clone fans behind me say what do you mean by that. I say reference his tweet last year how the BIG besides OSU is a joke. They say he never said that. I rest my case

I wasn't very impressed with loseards performance tonight. Seems towards the ends, the other ISU receivers were showing him how to catch a pass lmao.

MV just seems to get better and better and as does the chemistry between him and CJ!

ISU has a pittyful team and Lazard is the recipient of that... They are worse than I even imagined and I knew they sucked.

Honestly, I don't believe so. Put Lazard on Iowa this year with CJ throwing to him and see what you get.

Having a talented senior QB can make up for a lot of deficiencies in other areas of the offense. Tonight Vandeberg is the recipient of exactly that.

He had some bad drops tonight but Lazard is still solid. The chemistry b/w CJ and MVB is awesome

MVB is an absolute beast when it comes to route running, technique and sticky hands (generally) - even showing some solid wheels
Lazard has some size/speed that is hard to teach and was playing with a young overwhelmed QB
"Even showing some wheels"? Vandy is fast. One of the fastest guys on the team. Definitely faster than Lazard..

Lazard has physical talent, I doubt that is in question. But I don't know if he makes the kind of catches Vandeberg does.

MV is becoming a star before our eyes. Funny thing was he dropped the easiest one, the one right in the bread basket. But he more than made up for it with some amazing grabs.

As much as I hate to say it, lazard is pretty decent and probably will be playing on Sundays.

Talent-wise Lazard is better. He may be a world class douche, but he is an outstanding wide receiver. His team just sucks. Period.

Oh, and keep in mind CJ Beathard is making these wide receivers look good.

I hope this doesn't come off as racist but I think it is true. If MVB wasn't white people wouldn't consider him a "solid" possession receiver. He is a legit NFL talent. Good speed, great hands, and a workhorse. As much as I like him and I think he is terribly underrated I think that Lazard has the frame and build to be an upper level NFL talent. Can't coach what he brings to the table. Unfortunately for him he has had terrible QB's to work with. He should have realized that when he committed.

I sat next to DJK last night and he said 2 things about Meerkat.

1) He's the real deal.
2) He's got great hands.

Don't be foolish, VandeBerg had a hell of a night and we spanked those Clowns. BUT, Lazard will have a NFL career (assuming no injuries). VandeBerg has a chance, but we have had other WR's similar to him that have barely sniffed the NFL.

People keep saying Lazard is an NFL talent, will play in the pros, etc etc.....if Marvin McNutt couldn't make it, then what does Lazard have that McNutt didn't?

Sure, Lazard has a couple more inches in height but both were about the same size. Lazard doesn't have elite caliber speed. He's big and has good hands. If Lazard was as short as Vandeberg.......the difference would be, Vandy is faster.

Just sayin.

Very good point actually, I don't see lazard being any better than McNutt. Very similar players

I too, don't see the love affair with Lazard. Vandy is faster and has better hands, Lazard has a better build. Lazard also dropped several balls last night when the game mattered, and got some garbage time stats against our second string defense. Lazard may make it to the NFL, but I don't see him as high level WR at all. He'll be lucky to stick IMO.

I do think Lazard has an NFL future, but I can't say why McNutt never made it. McNutt lacked elite speed, but he seemed to have everything else. I'm very surprised he didn't do more in the NFL.
