Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works closing stores

Too bad. VS was a good place to lurk.

The acceleration of them closing and going bankrupt at the moment, yes it is newer in that sense

The US has been over-retailed for years per analyses I’ve read. With the Amazon delivery vans I now see constantly, I could see the death soon of basically every mall in the state outside of Coral-Ridge and Jordan Creek. I know here in Des Moines, when I’ve been the Merle May or Valley West the last few years, they were ghost towns.

Hopefully next will be car dealerships. Pick out what you want online and get it shipped directly.

I like to see and drive what I buy beforehand.

Plus this would make vehicles more expensive. Dealing with car dealers is a pain, but they compete against one another.

They’re a middleman still. There’s gotta be added costs due to that fact.

Problem I see is that I have more than 10 GM dealers within an hour so I can use that as leverage.

If I order straight from GM they’ll tell me that’s the price take it or leave it.

Shopping malls are going the way of Blockbuster.
We've got two enormous shopping "Meccas" here in Jax with a third one in development. All outdoor, which is back to the shopping center themes so prevalent in the 50's. But I wonder how those would thrive in cold/snowy climes? Isn't that the reason malls were developed in the first place?

Outdoor malls might be cool. I dunno. It just seems like those indoor malls are dead or dying. Maybe everything goes in cycles.

I've been selling online exclusively for 20 years. I'd be cautious about ever opening up a brick and mortar storefront.

Americans did this to themselves. Order everything on Amazon and kill your ability to see what you buy in real life before buying it.

And who buys lingerie and scented candles online? Ill fitting lingerie isn't sexy and candles and lotions aren't pleasant without knowing what they smell like first.

Find memories of being a grade school kid and walking through the mall taking a peak when we would walk past Victoria's Secret.

Getting caught looking at boobies by mom was the danger. I'm sure she would have laughed, but in my young boy mind this was truly a risk.
