Trump clashes with Los Angeles mayor over wildfire cleanup

It resonates with Americans that he thinks people should be able to do what they are already able to do?

They're not able to for a week.
Because they need to clear the debris from the streets. A week is sucks, but the area effected is pretty large. In the grand scheme of clearing their lot and rebuilding their homes, a week prob isn't all that bad.

I literally just read the transcript, dipshit. He's saying "they should be able to cleanup their own lots" and the mayor keeps saying "they can if they want."
Try harder, Barney Fife >

This resonates with swaggering douche bags that hate black women, so, yeah, Trump voters like the OP and middle of the road posters who just couldn't vote for the worst candidate ever. Trump is a childish bully. In a time that calls for leadership he gets hysterical. Putin and Xi are going to eat him alive.

TRUMP: "But the people are willing to clean out their own debris. It doesn't cost a lot."

BASS: "Yes and they can."

TRUMP: "You should let them do it, because by the time you hire contractors, it's going to be two years."

BASS: "If a family..."

TRUMP: "People are willing to get a dumpster and do it themselves and clean it out."

BASS: "And they can do that."

When asked how long it would be until they’re allowed back on their properties again, Bass said “we’re hoping a week”

“A week is a very long time,” Trump said.

Trump has never done a days worth of manual labor in his entire life. He is clueless and making a fool of himself. How about helping a family for a day shovel debris into a dumpster. He incites and gets out of town. Or he’ll throw rolls of paper towels at people.

They they can't presently, but Catfish is "HOPING" for "MAYBE" a week? 🤡
We're talking about a massive area completely burnt to the ground. They need to assess the area and clean the streets to make sure it's safe. It took some residents over a week in Elkhorn, NE to get back to their homes to begin cleanup after a tornado that did less damage than this fire.

Regardless if it's 1 week, if their homes are burnt to the ground, it's going to take months or even years to assess damage, file insurance claims, and rebuild. People need to be patient.

Think rationally, H4AD.

He’s a tough guy around mayors and Denmark and Haitian immigrants, though.

But Trump said 24 hours, right?

If this is easier for people to grasp:

"Following the devastating 2008 Cedar Rapids flood, most residents were unable to return to their homes for several weeks due to the extensive damage caused by the floodwaters, with some areas taking even longer depending on the severity of the flooding and the necessary repairs required to ensure safety."

You poor thing. It's gonna be a long four years for you.

This assumes people are idiots. People can generally make their own safety assessments in this context. Their lives have been upended, and they want to get to work. These are homes, not a 14 story high rise. If people want to clean their site, assuming their own risk, they should be allowed to do so.

I’m still wondering, is it an access issue or they are not allowed to start clearing without permits, etc?

Give it up man some people are parrots completely have their brains tied to their social media feed. Whatever it says they’ll squawk about it word for word immediately. Not even an ounce of original thought.
If you’ve seen the movie Ready Player One. I think a version of that is what we’re heading for. But at least when the good guys won. They shut off the feed for a few days a week.

Dude people are idiots. Why do we have drowning warnings on buckets. I’ve seen some farmers attempt some crazy things with small moving equipment and using their kids to clear debris.
Plenty of accidents can happen. And a person will need medical attention. But all of the debris will block ambulances.

This is America. It's their home!

Get the f*#k out of the way.

Then we shouldn’t worry or get any blow back when folks. Get dehydrated. Have debris go through their limbs or have heart attacks because they’re not used to manual labor.
Plus I do believe they are currently allowed to do some clean up. Just not as much access as they desire. Mostly thanks to debris blocking streets.

I gather the dislike is more directed at incompetent people in positions of authority that are utterly failing in their duties and failing the people they are sworn to serve.

Why hasn’t she resigned yet?

FFS, do you folks ever stop your incessant whining about manufactured boogeyman? It's a good thing you haven't been in LA recently, we all know that snowflakes can't survive near fire.
