It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!

If he's in the mix for a starting spot we have a definite hole in the lineup.....
Seems like he’s about even with Murin from my perspective. Both guys are potential AAs. Neither likely to be high AAs and very possible both wouldn’t make the podium.

I really hope we don’t have a back and forth roster spot and a coaches decision right before B1Gs.

Does anyone know anything about his military service? Was he deployed for a time with the National Guard/Reserve, or did he actually do time in active duty, and if so, what branch?

I thought Turk looked better in 2019-20 than in previous seasons. Wrestled more aggressively, went 15-1 with his only loss to O’Connor in OT. I think he’ll give Murin all he wants.
Absolutely agree! Before Lugo showed up, I thought Turk would be our 149. Very quality depth at 49.

He's beaten Gross (albeit @ 141), Red twice (and lost twice), Ian Parker, K Storr, got 2 TDs on N Lee, and lost to O'Connor in SV. He needs to go from a guy who "can hang with anyone" to a guy who can beat anyone--and does consistently. Glad to have him back--definitely no downside to having him, as long as ammo is kept in another room.

No downside here. He was much better moving up to 149. His only wrestling issues had been getting off bottom and lacking confidence at times. If he can get those addressed he can be pretty good.

There may or may not be a downside to having him back on the team. I wouldn’t want the old version back on the team or in the private/social lives of the rest of the guys. Maybe the military changed him….

I wouldn't say that, he's a fringe AA type just like Murin. I guess we'll see if he's a full fledged 149 lber these days. 184 is in the same boat unless Assad emerges IMO.

If our "hole" is ranked Top Ten or better, I can live with that. Many years where that would have been a great problem to have.

What needed changed with Turk?

Turk gave O’Conner everything he wanted in the 2019 Midlands if I recall.

Turk has always showed flashes of being great but hasn’t been able to do it on a consistent basis.
