Ogle Winston Link took a lot of classic railroad photos in the 1950s as steam locomotives were being phased out by the railroads. He's famous for his night photos that often included fast moving trains and powerful lighting in strategic places to emphasize elements in his shots. Amazing work!

That's gotta be annoying while trying to watch a movie. Lol

Rode this bad boy when I was as a kid, My parents grew up in Wabeno Wisconsin and Grandpa worked at Connor’s mill.

Steam locomotives are pure Americana. I saw the UP 4014 when it was parked, briefly in Cedar Rapids. The crew that works with that engine as it tours are some lucky guys and gals. They're hard working too. I watched a couple of them greasing it and wow....with so many moving parts and mechanical connections, that's an arduous job! As sad as it was for many to see steam retired, I imagine many more railroad employees welcomed the simplicity, efficiency and reliability of diesel power with open arms.

I saw a copy of your first photo in Rural Retreat, Va several months ago. It popped and was really stunning.

We rode up the mountain on the Cass run years back. Steep one way and back climb with switch backs. Coal exhaust was heavy.
