Does the MVC deserve 2 spots in the NCAA Tournament?

  • Yes. Let Loyola or Drake in damn it!

  • No. Look at the NET rankings of the teams for crying out loud!

Heaven, Iowa
Admit it! You want Sister Jean in the Big Dance!

Either Bradley (20-14) or UNI (17-17) will automatically qualify for the Big Dance after one of those teams wins the MVC Conference Tournament Sunday.

Should one of the Regular Season Co-Champs, Loyola-Chicago (20-13) or Drake (24-9), also be selected for the NCAA Tournament?

NET Rankings (March 9):
124 Drake
125 Loyola Chicago
---------------------------------
169 UNI
173 Bradley

Much rather see either one of one teams than 7-11 Big 12 Oklahoma and TCU. The MVC was undoubtedly the weakest I’d seen in years but 7-11 in conference play?

Why would Loyola get a bid this year? They did exactly zero in the non-conference.

Compare it to last season and Loyola picked up some decent wins in the non-conference and had a shot at an at-large bid if they didnt dominate the MVC like they did.

Nope! MVC was very weak this year.

Whoever won the league title (shared) should both get invited to NIT. I think Loyola gets the bid, but hope Drake gets a shot for some post season play.

Drake deserves a bid more than Iowa.

I don’t know but can somebody who watches the MV explain why Bradley is -11.5 over UNI today? I’m trying to make some money here.

No, but Iowa needs to be playing more of these teams! Or ones with similar rankings. We need to be playing g tea a in the 150-220 range at worst. SOS matters

Drake isn't even listed as an NIT possibility. Murray State sliding into the NCAA could open a spot.

No. And it's not even close.

The mvc is the equivalent of the horizon or summit leagues. Their quality has completely fallen off at the top end.

It is solidly a one bid conference.

I think 17-17 UNI wins and advances.

Guessing with a 169 NET ranking they will be a 16 seed.

If that happens, maybe UNI will be the second 16-seed to upset a 1. I think UNI might have a chance depending on which 1 seed they would be matched up with.

What type of team does uni match up well against ?

They have zero quickness in the guard court and zero ability to score in paint or defend the paint.

The Valley is historically bad. The good UNI Witchita and Creighton teams would go undefeated in this league and the next best team would have 7 conference losses.

If UNI upsets a 1 or 2 seed it will be by shooting 65% or better from 3.

An impatient, terrible 3 pt shooting team. Perhaps Duke? Clog the lane and make them hit threes. Force Zion into being a distributor and draw a few charges/over the back calls.

Hard to believe how far the MVC has fallen. 2006 they were a four bid league.
They lost their best teams. None of the existing members, and certainly not the new ones, filled the void. Add to that the quality of what used to be the better of the existing members has significantly fallen off(see uni) and this is the result.

Lost some good coaches also.
