Wadley at Senior Bowl Practices

James opened his account today and has 10 post some,of which, most are already condescending to others..... first in on "muskie" being back.

Hey James you don't by any chance have a really solid grasp on O line play, enjoy going to youth wrestling tourneys, and and have several close connections to "people in the know" do you?

Saw another site that said Akrum weighed in at 188 and has small hands. Made the guy question if he'd be a viable 3rd down back as thought he'd having trouble catching passes. I don't remember him dropping much if any passes this year? But may be why he's struggled with fumbles a bit.

As far as weight, guessing he'll be over that 190 barrier at the combine.

Yeah I remember when measurables like this ended up being a knock on Dez pre-draft. These guys are really good at deciphering the things that really determine who will get it done on Sundays.

Bryon Broaddus former scout and analyst for Dallas had this to say

  • Had some folks before the Senior Bowl tell me to take a look at Akrum Wadley (RB, Iowa) as a prospect. I have to say that I have been impressed with what I’ve seen so far. Wadley has the traits of a complete back. He has shown the ability to take the ball either inside or out with effectiveness. He’s a nice combination of quickness and power with the ball in his hands. I’ve been very impressed with his running style. Most of the time his runs to and through the hole have been before the defense has had a chance to react.

Yeah ....so many people took shots at Kirk for being hard on him because of his weight! But of coarse it never crossed any ones mind that the reality is that Kirk was doing what was best for him. When some of the first remarks coming out on him are about his weight, sounds like Kirk was spot on!
Yeah, I think KF knows of what he speaks.

this time of year everything gets crazy kids get upgraded that have no business being upgraded kids get downgraded for no reason other than the fact that they have quote small hands. Everybody seems to forget the work they do on a football field between now and the combine in the draft. I personally believe that's why there's so many bus when you're drafting. It's about what you do on the football field that what you do and shorts. I think I could Wadley is going to make somebody a real good offensive player

Wadley needs to get much better at picking up blitzes for them to be able to use his abilities on 3rd down.

I have a sneaky feeling Wadley becomes a slot receiver unless he can finally begin packing on good weight. Or some teams will view him as such and back off.

One of my best friends reminds me of this. Never, ever has had an ounce of fat on him, now closing in on 50. Lean and strong for his size. I've known him for almost 35 years, and the guy just plain doesn't eat much.

We asked him, why do you rarely eat. He said he grew up really poor, and there was never much food around. Can't eat what you don't have - and once he started working, he never changed.

I know Wadley didn't exactly have a silver spoon in his mouth...I've always wondered if his case about putting on weight was a similar thing - plainly doesn't eat a whole lot, and maybe never will either.

From ProFootballFocus

Skill player takeaways
Iowa RB Akrum Wadley and Arizona State RB Kalen Ballage both stood out with their performances in the North team practice. Wadley showed his ability to be a factor in the pass game with soft hands. His brightest moment came when he caught a screen pass and displayed some nice jump-cuts as he weaved through defenders; his speed to the reach the corner on outside runs was also evident.

And on the other hand...

On the other hand Iowa’s Akrum Wadley was unimpressive here. He struggled to get open and separate. On one snap he allowed the safety to force him to the sideline, narrowing the window for the QB. On another snap he just fell over as soon as the whistle blew. He couldn’t separate when a linebacker got his hands on him. He just looked so limited. Daniel Jeremiah added he wasn’t good in pass protection either. He finally had a nice route and catch on a fade to the back corner of the end zone late on. This was a bit of a disappointment though considering he’s a smaller back and will be looked at as someone who needs to contribute in the passing game.
