Wadley

Been a while but I agree with sedrick shaw as well although shaw wasn't as elusive. I see the Harmon resemblance as well with the quick cuts.

Wadley's dangerous for us now because he's worked extremely hard to improve physically as a guy we can count on to chip a pass rusher and/or beat someone on his release into the flat.

We'll see when he's a senior. I can't speak to the Harmon comparisons because he was before my time. I think Tavian and Russell had better vision (though Wadley is quicker and faster than Russell). It's conceivable that Wadley could make that leap, since he's only two games into his junior year.

The Sanders comparisons are huge hyperbole, though. Sanders was quicker than any back Iowa's ever had, but more importantly he had better vision and balance than any player I've ever seen. That combination is why he's the best runner in football, ever, at any level.

Oh, and I love Daniels and think he's gonna have a very good year (1,000+ yards, 6-ish ypc), but I don't think he'll be drafted, given how devalued RBs are, in the draft these days. I mean, he'll get a shot in camp, probably even a UDFA contact if he stays healthy this year and does as well as I think (or better), but probably not drafted.

Loved Tavian Banks, but it seemed the slightest contact and he would go down.
Sedrick Shaw was the best Iowa RB in my lifetime and I'm 45 years old.
That Alamo Bowl run was just amazing.
Yes, sir. You can take off your helmet after that run.
Amazed how he wasn't more successful in the NFL.

I preferred (and prefer) Tavian, but Shaw was great, too. On a tangent, I think Mitchell could be Albert Young-like, if he ever starts.

Maytag.

Dude has a seriously good spin cycle.

If you're looking for an Iowa comp...I can't think of any that had that good a shake and bake.

My biggest concern is durability (he's gonna always need a sidekick a la Russell/Lewis and Young/Sims). Pretty sure he's conquered the ball security (fingers and toes crossed).

Reminds me of Reggie Bush in college. Wadley is at a different level of quickness and elusivesness than nearly every defender. The angles dbs take on him are terrible because he is so deceptively fast with his long strides.

Wadley reminds me of the kind of player that played RB at Oregon under Chip Kelly.

Super talented. Can't coach that kind of talented. Glad to have him on our team kind of talented.

I hope he can manage some way to stay humble and work hard at becoming the best player he can be. He can always learn more and get better at his craft. Learning opposing defense tendencies and prepare for success. Stay humble and do work Akrum!

Sed is much bigger and not as quick as Wadley. Bad comparison. Best Iowa comparison is a faster (top speed) Russell or a D Sims with better strength.

I'll never forget Shaw just abusing Michigan State's LBs and DBs (I believe) up at East Lansing.
They wanted no more of Shaw after a couple quarters of seeing him run all over them (and through them).

I think he ran for almost 200 yds in that game...

Edit-
Found a summary:
Oct. 7, 1995 (at East Lansing)
Iowa 21, MSU 7: Iowa running back Sedrick Shaw hammered his way for 250 yards in a school-record 42 carries as Iowa upped its record to 4-0 by just running the ball down the throats of the Spartans, in their first season under head coach Nick Saban.

The Hawkeyes rolled up 524 yards of offense and the defense did its part, too. It held the Spartans to 31 yards rushing and Plez Atkins had two interceptions, including one in the end zone with 2:41 to quell one last Michigan State threat.

In the final minute, the seemingly indestructible Shaw was rammed into the bench along the sidelines on one play but bounced back to his feet.

“Everyone was saying 'Sedrick's down, Sedrick's down,'" Iowa coach Hayden Fry said. “I said, 'Hell, Sedrick's alright, but they're going to need a new bench.'"

Like another poster said, I am glad we have Wadley!!! He has the it factor and I look forward to watching him the next couple years!! He has big play ability every time he touches the ball! Always a threat to bust it all the way!!

I think we need to see his last two years.

He's high potential, great moves and getting stronger. I don't think he's as elusive as Tavian and he needs to get stronger to be looked at by the NFL. He'll get bigger under Doyle for sure and as his pass blocking will improve. His receiving skills are certainly showing flashes this year.

I'm not concerned about who he compares to at this point. I'm just looking foward to seeing him finish out his Hawkeye career. It should be fun.

I'd also like to see LeShun Daniels continue to progress this year....just in case we need our starting RB........
