He's looked really good at times, but he's noticeably not been breaking long runs this year. Daniels on the other hand has, despite them being called back. Is Wadley not at full speed?

Hard to be patient when the DL is 3yds into the backfield. He isn't being patient on some of the runs he has had where there were big gains to be had. last game there was on play in particular if he would have just waited there was a lane that opened up and he could have had a huge gain but instead he just tried to go outside the blocks and didn't really get anywhere. I think he is trying to press too much the last two games trying to make a play to spark the offense.
The run blocking hasn't been that bad. I would say they probably have very few negative running plays this year.Hard to be patient when the DL is 3yds into the backfield.
Iowa is 110th in the nation for Offense (95th for rushing with 143.2 yds per game). The run blocking hasn't been that bad. I would say they probably have very few negative running plays this year.
Our run blocking is actually pretty good, why we do not run the ball more often is beyond me! Wadley averaging 6 ypc and Daniels averages 5.4 ypc (that is with 150 yards called back on 2 carries.
I saw a stat where when the game was tied at 24-24 Iowa did not run the ball the rest of the game? Is that true? They passed the ball every time?
I know we are supposed to have this "pro QB" but it almost seems like GD is calling WAY too many pass plays. We have to run the ball at all times. It grinds the clock and keeps our defense off of the field. It still baffles me that we line up in 4 wide and shotgun when its 3rd down and 3 or 3rd and 2? Why? We do not run zone read or draw plays, so the defense already knows it a pass. So they just pin their ears back and tighten up the coverage and we get sacked every time.

Called zero runs in the 4th quarter I believe vs NW. This is on the coaches... nice to get a raise and then stink up the state.

Wow that is just shocking to believe. How can we have two of the "better RB's" in the conference and not use them in the 4th quarter?
I seriously wonder if they are trying too hard to get CJB his TD's. Just run the dang ball, hell run a reverse, run something other than shotgun 4 wide.
Yes, it is shocking. It is also untrue. Half of Iowa's plays in the 4thQ against NW were run plays. Did you even watch the game?
- 2nd and 11 at IOWA 41
(6:52 - 4TH) C.J. BEATHARD PASS COMPLETE TO LESHUN DANIELS JR. FOR 5 YDS TO THE IOWA 46
- 3rd and 6 at IOWA 46
(6:52 - 4TH) C.J. BEATHARD SACKED BY IFEADI
The second we fail to gain yardage, we need to throw the ball.

yes I did and I was disgusted with our play calling
This is a pretty good example of why the coaches will always be criticized for play calling no matter what is called.
Iowa calls a pass play on 2 and 11 trailing late in the 4thQ after loss on a run play on 1st down --- this poster is critical (criticizing Davis' pass play calls: "the second we fail to gain yardage, we need to throw the ball")
Two weeks prior against NDSU on 2nd and 12 and trailing late in the 4thQ after a 2 yard loss on a 1st down run play, Iowa again called a running play (what this poster demands) for minimal gain ---- the coaches should be fired!
My bad, that was the NDSU game where we were outgained 126 to -9 in the 4th. The past 3 games have looked so much the same they just blend together...How can you possibly be disgusted with the 4th Quarter play calling if you had no idea what plays were actually called?
You thought that Iowa did not use their RBs in the 4thQ against NW (see above) when in fact they were used in 10 of the 22 plays called.

Can you befriend Beathards neighbor, to get a quote from him (or her) to find out what is wrong with him?Ran into a friend that lives in IC and is his neighbor. He told me that Wadley's knee was hurt before the first game. So, he's pretty much been playing on at least a tender knee all season if that is true.
Okay So I went back and whoever posted that stat must of been wrong.
Iowa did rush the ball in the 4th quarter. The glaring issue is right after NW scored this is our first series after they scored to go up 7pts.
- (2:07 - 3RD) JACK MITCHELL KICKOFF FOR 58 YDS , RILEY MCCARRON RETURN FOR 54 YDS TO THE NWEST 39

- 3rd and 6 at NW 35
(2:07 - 3RD) C.J. BEATHARD SACKED BY IFEADI ODENIGBO FOR A LOSS OF 4 YARDS TO THE NWEST 39
Can you say Panic much? Why would we attempt 3 passes in a row? Why not run the ball?
Before all this when the game was tied:

(6:15 - 3RD) IOWA PENALTY, FALSE START (-5 YARDS) TO THE IOWA 32

3rd and 3 and we are passing? WTF? Seriously we have guys averaging 4-5yds a carry and we pass on 3rd and 3?
This drive pretty sums up Greg Davis:

- 2nd and 5 at IOWA 25

That game was an exception and it was because Welsh and Daniels were both out.
If we are going to use your logic, then we need to run the ball on every down.
Guess what? That doesn't work.
We weren't running well against NW either. So it wasn't an exception.
You're kind of moving the goalposts here Dav. If you can read GD like a book and we have excellent field position at the 39, wouldn't they be expecting something off tackle? Look, I get that you are frustrated. We all are. Iowa looks like a really bad team when they don't execute well, especially on the lines. They are not executing well right now and they are bad. Ferentz (not Davis) has run the same type of offense and defense, for the most part, for the whole of his coaching life. He is going to out-execute the other team. When that team does what it is supposed to, he's a fabulous coach. When it doesn't, he's a horrible coach.
One more thing. The term is would/should/could have, not would/could/should of. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.
I guess I am more frustrated that we are trying to pass the ball w/medicore WR/TEs. Our strength is our rushing attack and our RB's are our best "athletes" on the team, yet we are not using them.
Iowa is 12th in passing and 11th in rushing in the Big ten. That shows me that we have not decided what type of offense we are yet. Last year we were 11th passing and 7th rushing, so that means we were more run dominated last year. Why not stick with that? What has changed from last year to this year??? QB is the same, RB are basically the same (minus canzeri).
I am frustrated because our coaching staff seems to stupid to figure out that we need to find a brand and stick with it. Quit trying to be a pass first team, we do not have the WR/TE's to be able to do that. Yes CJB is probably the QB to come along since Stanzi, but he is throwing to inferior talent.
We rarely keep the defense guessing as to our offensive intent and at times we seem to be playing into our weakness (passing game) instead of leaning on what should be our strength (running game).
