Iowa has rarely struggled this much against teams that throw out multiple running formations.
NDSU beat us with multiple formations but Miami, Rutgers, and Northwestern all use shotgun and try to spread the field and run in space, or at least try to make it 5 on 5 in the runs up the middle.
We HAD been doing a good job of limiting the run against those formations in recent years, at least against marginal or similar talent. It was always the dink and dunk passing and LBs vs WRs matchups that we had to worry about.
This year we apparently have to be concerned about everything.......
