Wagner's defense

Did anyone else notice near the end of the game, Wagner was guarding one of the hot shooting/driving guards from SH??? And he stayed in front of him and shut him down. I was impressed.
I think Wagner is probably our best defender, whether he is defending the front line or the guards.

One of the few times during the game where a Seton Hall guard was unable to drive at will.

Go ahead and name who we think our best defenders are, at this point.

I'd agree with Wagner. I'd think that Baer, while maybe not a great one on one defender, closes down passing lanes well and steals or tips the ball frequently.

The rest may be a work in progress.

ya that's a hard one ... I mean I believe Cook knows & has been told to stay out of foul trouble....does any of us get as concerned when Wag picks up his 2nd foul in the first foul...as much as if Cook would? Not saying Cook shouldn't defend...but you certainly miss a little ..maybe a lot when he is out. Learning to defend without fouling is not a walk in the park for a true freshman...especially how the game is called in todays college game.

you are right it takes time to play "team" defense ... communication and all. Work in progress is a definite.

I think Moss can be a very good on ball defender, but he needs to play him more often to get comfortable. The issue of not switching on screens has been mentioned (as in not happening enough). I thought the concept/idea of having so many long/lean athletic players was so that they could switch their assignments defensively without losing much defensive effectiveness on the switches. It has been mentioned that switching has not been happening which makes it harder to stop penetration by opposing players.
