For someone who has been in this game for years you really need to get a grip

1) HELLO ITS BIG TEN TIME YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR BEST PLAYERS IN AND THAT MEAND PETER JOK...

Wth YOU ARE GIVING YOUR TEAM 0 Chance to win

Pete has had some serious defensive lapses and some concentration related turnover so he needs to sit for a little bit.

Hawks were down 37-20 last year at Purdue. But that was also with a veteran team. With this young group they just have to continue to battle and hopefully get it down to 15 at the halfway point. And just try go make it look respectable.

Not sure about Jok ........but I do know we needed Woody playing D under the hoop tonight! Yeah .....the same Woody that some people couldn't wait for him to go .......this might be a 10 point game if someone could stop the layups!

Woody was going to be the toughest player to replace this year. But since his game was not flashy people thought he sucked.

Easy there big fella. Woody had 4 juniors/seniors helping on defense. Huge difference. We had kids that couldn't play shell defense out there tonight. That's a coaching point that goes back to the seton hall game.

Hold on there "big Fella" Woody was a force on defense under the basket ......he was way tougher than anyone they have to play that position today!

Guards don't matter, just read some of the posts in here. In Fran's system, we don't need a true PG who is quick, can score, defend, and get hoops to stop droughts. We saw a FRESHMAN guard for Purdue completely control the game while our guards dribbled east to west and had 0 impact on the game. Purdue's 1-3 slashed and finished, while ours fumbled, stumbled, and charged.

We need a bigger body down low. Throw Kriener out there and use his 5 fouls to save Cook and Pemsl. Dailey is long and appears to have the ability to score. No sense in wasting these guys based on 0 contributions from others. Start Kriener, Cook, Pemsl, Jok, and Bohannon. Bring Moss, Baer, Wagner, Dailey, and Ellingson off the bench with brief appearances by Uhl and Williams. If Fran doesn't change the lineup, Pemsl and Cook will be sitting 2 minutes into the second half in foul trouble all season. Kriener is a pick and pop threat, which we need given all the attention Jok is getting.

So every time an opposing guard has a good game that means our PG stinks? The kid was on his home floor and was hot. He made multiple mistakes and some of his shots were poor selections, he just made them. Bohannen was not great last night but was not horrible either? Williams was brutal.

I do not like your starting lineup because that's a really, really poor defensive unit. I like Kreiner but who is playing the 3 - Pemsl, Jok - 2? The best 2 defenders on the team who have some offensive skills are Moss & Dailey and they are both on the bench?

Kreiner - 5
Cook / Pemsl - 4
Jok - 3
Moss - 2
Bohannen - 1

Best of Baer or Wagner for energy at the 4 each night. Push Pemsl or Cook to the 5 when either is in but not both at the same time.

Dailey spells Bohannen or Jok. Ellingson for Moss.

Only in dire emergencies; Uhl & Williams. Fran's mistake is playing these guys hoping they will do something good.

Not very confident in our ability to stop anyone defensively with your starting five And1Hawk.

That is BS....Woody physically matches up with the 7'2 giant, not Swanigan. Woody never defended smaller, quicker big men especially well. Woody would have compete for boards, but not going to stop 3pts raining home and brick laying by young hawks. Woody himself was never good for more than 10-12 pts on a good night.

Sorry there big fella. Woody single handily shut down those 2 bigs from Purdue last year. Why us it so hard for people to give woody credit? Said it all last year that he would be very tough to replace. Proving to be very true.

I did not see the game last night, but after looking at the stat sheet the guy or guys guarding PJ were guarding him tight and being physical with him. PJ going 4/15 shooting and 1/7 from the 3 point line is the evidence of that. Can someone who watched the game confirm or correct this.

This from Peter's post game interview...“Nobody was really trying to get me open. I had tough shots,” Jok said of the first half. “. Maybe I'm taking it wrong but blaming your teammates..wow. Maybe he didn't mean to say it like it came out.

He has a lot of shooting ability, but I always had the feeling he spelled team with an "I" and that comment indicates that, not good.

Didn't say Woody stop the 3's ......what I did say is he wouldn't have given up 20 points worth of layups...duh! And yes .....he did take care of the inside against them last year!

I love my Hawks too....... down 20 at half when the press got put on doesn't necessarily mean Woody single handily shut them down. The press did wonders at Purdue.

Except if you look at the numbers Woody made a HUGE difference in our defensive efficiency from day one when he started as a freshman.

I think Jok is hurt, not necessarily just the hip. His shoulder as well, I thought I saw him favoring it. He was not himself on offense.

To me, when Pemsl got screwed on a couple of calls I knew it would be a long night. We need his best game to beat Purdue.

I don't think you could be more wrong. Pete has ALWAYS been gracious in talking about his teammates. He is a shooter and a scorer and I think he was just frustrated. And correct. We have the best scorer in the Big and his teammates need to realize that.

No way in HELL should Kriener ever start. Not even in 3 years.
