Sorry - if this has already been discussed in another thread. I was not at the game - watched it on TV and I have seen Kirk get emotional a few times and it looked like right after the first pick 6 when the camera went to Kirk - he was pretty close to losing it?

Not that theres anything wrong with that. :):D Anyone else notice that?

I thought the same thing.

Yeah, I heard/read a comment from Kirk somewhere that he felt like this team finally turned the corner this last week in practice and that he wasn't sure that they were going to this year. I think that's one of those ambiguous feels a coach has for their team....saw some things in practice, looked like it was going to happen, they've been busting their asses working to get things to click....being patient and yet pushing as hard as they could. FINALLY, saw some indications that this team had taken a step forward but until they do it in the game, you just don't know.

My guess is that when Kirk saw that first pick 6 he thought FINALLY......for many years fan's bitched about Kirk not having passion and that his heart wasn't into it...bull!

He's a good man and a good coach...very happy for him.

Yep. He’s a more emotional guy than we might think. He’s gotten choked up a quite a few times on the sideline throughout his career.

I thought the same thing. I couldn't help but think the Taylor v. Hooker thing had something to do with it too. Miles is the epitome of a team player and KF sure has a hard time benching team players but sometimes the younger player is better.

I guess I couldn't see that much emotion on that play from him only 8 seconds into the game.Having His son as OC now had to double his stress level

He was thinking, Payback is a Bitch...game on Urban.

I was thinking after we immediately gave up a TD to OSU...well at least we scored 7.

I think it is clear that our offense is capable of more if we get off script. Was OSU flat? Did they overlook Iowa? Did Iowa play the perfect game? Who knows? I will say that for the first time since Brad Banks, maybe some Drew Tate games, our offense looked dynamic and in rhythm.

He was smiling in a shot of him & the team at the end of the game from what I could see.

Kirk has gotten choked up multiple times. With that Senior class celebrating the 2009 Outback Bowl victory, when Coker went off for his 2nd TD after all the adversity prior to the 2010 Insight Bowl. There are others I can't recall now.

I don't know how anyone can say he isn't invested. Sure he deadpans press conferences and no he isn't like Paul "air guitar" Rhodes, but he's shown time and again he's invested in his players.
Of course we only see what he wants us to see and hear for the most part. These glimpses during games, are a window into who KF is. I think he dead pans and aw shucks interviews, because basically he's a quite. private guy who'd like nothing more then to coach his guys and pass on all the public stuff. As to his investment in his boys, there are countless stories from past players, that tell you all you need to know about the man and how much Iowa football, and its people, from the players, coaches, secretaries, heck the janitor that cleans the locker room mean to him.

God no ... the only thing he was choked up about was that he was so surprised at the pick six he swallowed his wad of gum he was chewing ..
Moments later that was confirmed when he took out his little notepad and made a note to buy more bubblegum on the way home

Yes! Thought the same thing. If he was like us, sick and tired of beaten to a pulp by OSU and gutted by Troy Smith, Bobby Olive, Terell Pryor, Braxton Miller, etc. All the prep that week paid off...Kirk knew the boys were ready!

you forgot run over by Eddie George and all those damn big/fast running backs.
