Watch for FREE the REPLAYS (March 30, March 31, Apr 1): IOWA at #25 Illinois Baseball

This is a big weekend @ Illinois. Iowa is 1-1 in the B1G and Illinois is 3-0. Iowa has an RPI in the low 60's and Illinois in the 30's. A true road series is a big opportunity for Iowa's RPI even though it's early.

Games are 6pm, 3pm, and 2pm in that order. Same rotation for Iowa.

Sunday game is on BTN.

7-4 told u Iowa should walk that guy every time

In 2015 Iowa had a three game series vs Cincy. They had Ian Happ. Iowa walked him A LOT that weekend. They even walked him to load the bases as opposed to facing him.

Now don't get me wrong, they did pitch him a couple times and he did hit a solo HR that weekend. They were VERY cautious though.

Illini load the bases again in the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs. The ILLINI batter leaves the bat on his shoulder for a called 3rd strike and the 3rd out.

Iowa still clinging to the 7-5 lead heading to the 9th

that 2 run ILLINI home run==both runs unearned, correct, because of the error that happened right before?

would suck to blow a 7-2 lead

I think the guy who advanced because of the error, his run would be unearned. Guy who hit home run would be earned. That’s how I’ve always understood it anyway. Could be wrong.

They were scored both unearned because that one out gets you out of the inning.

Scoring confuses me sometimes, if it was less than two outs I think only one is unearned because you CAN'T assume the next batter would've been out.

thats what i was thinking (2 unearned runs) because if not for the error, Iowa is out of the inning w/ no ILLINI runs scored

Iowa beats #22/25 Illinois 8-5 and a HUGE HUGE win. Offense finally got cooking and lets hope it continues to carry over. Illinois offense is very potent.

Allgeyer gave Iowa a chance to win, ran out of gas though. Daniels battled and got Iowa out of jams, but obvious he didn't have his best stuff. How about Grant Leonard? Comes in and shuts the door in the 9th.

3pm on Saturday, lets do it!

I’ll have to catch the replay. Looks like it was a wild one today. Almost pulled it off.

Great game. Hard to watch the 9 run inning but I'm becoming a big college (Iowa) BB fan. This may be the weekend we get our consistency back against a tough Illinois team

here are the stats: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=216902

yeah, giving up 9 runs in the 3rd inning was a killer; that made the score 10-0 after 3 innings in what ended up being a 13-12 loss

The replay is 183 minutes and the time between innings is cut out, which is nice. I skipped ahead to the 4th inning, which is when Iowa was trailing 10-0 but started chipping away and outscored the Illini 12-3 the rest of the way. In the 4th, Iowa scored 2 runs and still had the bases loaded with just one out; unfortunately, they did not score any more that inning (hit into a double play). Heck, just need a sacrifice fly to score one more run, if nothing else. And that one additional run would have been crucial since 1 run is what we lost by.

Also, a lead off double in the 8th for Iowa resulted in 0 runs. Iowa definitely had its chances to pull this game off.

TEAM...1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...R...H...E...L
IOWA... 0... 0... 0... 2..3... 0.. 0.. 0.. 7. 12. 11. 1. 10
ILL....... 0... 1... 9... 0. 1... 0.. 0.. 2.. X. 13. 17. 1.. 8

Hopefully the Hawks can win Sunday and win the series 2-1. That would be huuuuuge.

@750075 , @sltldowney , @funnyfletcher , @iowaHawkeyes2323 , @chonk , will you need a link for Sunday's game with it being on BTN TV? Let me know!

GO HAWKS!!!
